Summary
A lush world fueled by magic that's intertwined with every living being so closely that technology has lagged behind. Colleges and guilds are more commonplace than actual government bodies, and in even more scarcely populated places, they don't even have that and simply self-govern. A peaceful world on the surface, but with a whole different story going on underneath.

Features
Low Technology
With magic permeating everything, the more mundane technology was never embraced on a widespread scale. A few remote towns might feature more technology if their average magic skills aren't up to par, but there's been no huge breakthroughs by a large group that caught on a widespread scale.

High Magic
Magic permeates everything and everyone, even those who aren't any good at using magic have it and can even still attune themselves most of the time, regardless of how helpful or not it may be. In extremely rare cases, one can ascend into a state of divinity, where their body becomes made mostly of magic. In exceedingly rare cases, these divines can transcend into deityhood, becoming entirely made of magic. While most folks in bigger towns have heard stories of such powerful individuals, a lot write it off as folklore, and those that live in remote locales usually haven't even heard of the concept. Even those rare in-the-know select few are ignorant of the extra transcending step - everyone just considers ascending a one-time event.

High Diversity
Almost every myth and folklore critter is welcome to exist in Cryptic, with little exceptions. Dragons exist in many forms other than the usual winged lizard, and a custom take on vampires and weres allow for any race to become one. "Undead" technically exist, but the amount that exist can be counted easily on one hand, due to the circumstances that need to align for one to be created.
