Setting

Desert Shores, CA is small desert town located between highway 86 and the Salton Sea. The town itself is little more than a collection of homes and small businesses with a trailer park on the north side and a park to the south. School and most of the larger businesses are a twenty minute drive north passed the Indian reservation and scattered among many smaller valley communities.

Buses can take the students to and from school, though many prefer to spend the afternoons hanging out in the valley, and the three schools are nestled between several of the communities. Older students can also bike or drive (if legal) and its not unusual for family or friends to walk home in the evenings.
