Seasons ago, StarClan fell.

Following a long era of war and bloodshed, RiverClan's tyrannical leader Hiddenstar was struck down by StarClan. The four Clans cautiously made their way into a new golden age that promised peace, prosperity, and cooperation between the Clans in the forest. It was supposed to be a new startβ€”and with StarClan apparently on their side again after all these moons of war and suffering, many were hopeful that life would go back to normal and that the ghosts of their bloodstained paths would be put to rest. Many were left questioning and wondering if StarClan would allow them to fall into another era of war... or if they would do their job and protect them next time around.

This uncertainty was enough. Over the next year, while Clan life more or less returned to normal, dark forces were lurking behind the scenes. It began with odd occurrences everyone once in a while; prey shortages, poisoned water, rotting prey, unexplainable illnesses. This was fine, at firstβ€”until it began happening more often, and even StarClan seemed to be at a loss as for what was going on. Medicine cats and leaders alike begged for explanations and cures; their cries seemingly fell on deaf ears. Over the next couple moons and then seasons, StarClan's voices seemed to be fading. Communication seemed severed. The Clans, not having any idea what was going on, are desperate for answers and left in a state of vulnerability. The moonstone seemed to be fading. When touched, a cat would wake up in StarClan, but the place would be empty, and no spirits would be in sight. What was going on? Was StarClan still punishing them for their crimes long ago?

Things get worse. A horrible storm floods the territories and then a terrible fire ravages the forest. As the weather gets worse and destruction becomes a daily occurrence, the Clans try one last time to beg StarClan for help and for answersβ€”but there is no response. The stars have faded from the sky. The Moonstone is cracked and lifeless. The Clans have no choice but to believe StarClan has deserted them in a time where they needed them the most. The Clans are in disarray; and in StarClan's absence, new voices and spirits begin to whisper in the ears of leaders and appear in the dreams of medicine cats. Was it Starclan, as they hoped? It didn't seem to be, but these cats seemed harmless, and they had no one else to turn to... and so the Clans put their faith into these new spirits, completely unaware it was the Dark Forest, who had been there the entire time. Small changes are made to the warrior code, to the herbs being used, to the feeding order of cats.

Over time, ThunderClan and WindClan realized that they were speaking to the Dark Forest. They warned ShadowClan and RiverClan. By the next year, all of ThunderClan and WindClan's leaders, deputies, and medicine cats had died under suspicious circumstances. The Dark Forest appointed new cats in their place. Enforcers are createdβ€”warriors who uphold and enforce the will of the Dark Forest at any cost. More changes were made: New medicinal practices, the deputy battle, the Visiting Ceremony, and emphasis on physical strength and violence. A thorn bush, named the Bloodbriar, inexplicably grows in the caverns of Highstones and replaced the Moonstone. Cats who were resistant to these changes were maimed or killed. ShadowClan welcomed the change; RiverClan, fearful of their former leader, Hiddenstar, conformed to the new ways; WindClan slowly converted, but had to prove their worth; ThunderClan was firm on resisting. The New Era has begun.

All cats who believed in StarClan had been killed, except for one elder in each Clan. ThunderClan, after suffering a series of horrible losses, confirmed to the new ways at last. Older cats have gotten used to the new way of life; younger cats have absolutely no knowledge of StarClan. After years, a new normal had settled in.

Today, the Clans have completely put their faith into the Dark Forest. Cats are not aware of any other way of living or belief β€Žβ€β€β€Žβ€Žβ€β€β€Žβ€Žβ€β€β€Žsystem: this is their normal, and they do not question or fight it. Only the Old Era Elders have any knowledge of StarClan, but are hesitant to share the truth with others. The Dark Forest is at its most powerful. This is the way is has been for years and will continue to be for many more...

For now, at least.

Darkness is calling. Will you answer?

➼ Multi-line and Multi-paragraph RP style
➼ Custom Name Lists and Generators with 1000s of Possibilities
➼ Original Traditions and Lore
➼ Multiple Plot Roles
➼ Detailed Server
➼ Mature (violence, gore, profanity)

Roleplay samples are not required upon joining, but are required for plot roles and high ranks. We primarily RP at a multi-line or multi-paragraph level, but shorter RP posts are still permitted, and we have no required word count; we just expect you to be able to roleplay in proper sentences with proper grammar.

We roleplay primarily on our Discord server, but we also have a private server on the roblox game Warrior Cats: Ultimate Edition and will have a private map on the game Feralheart Unleashed when (if) it releases. Your activity or presence on these games are not required, and are only there to supplement or enhance your roleplay experience.

WE ARE CURRENTLY AUDITIONING FOR THUNDERCLAN MEDICINE CAT. This is the last of our main high ranks that need filling. RiverClan and WindClan medicine cat apprentices are open as well. More info can be found on our Discord server, which is also where you will audition.

THERE ARE THREE PLOT ROLES OPEN. As of now, the only plot roles that we need filling is one more Dark Forest spirit, an Old Era Elder in ThunderClan, and an Old Era Elder in WindClan. More info can be found on our server on which, like with high ranks, you can apply as well. Old Era Elders are first come first serve; Dark Forest spirits take more time to accept.

WE ARE A "NEWER" SERVER STILL BUILDING UP A MEMBER BASE. We came out of a long hiatus a few months ago and are still building up a member base and filling high ranks especially now that school is coming to a close for a lot of people. If you are interested in a server that is more laidback at the moment, we may be right for you!

INTERESTED IN JOINING? Great! You can join our Discord at this link: https://discord.gg/MN8pCY8. Upon joining our server, you will be given the "guest" role and will have access to all the information channels and a few chatting channels. You will need to make a character to join: either a (non-plot role) elder, warrior, apprentice, or permaqueen. Old Era Elders are the only plot role at the moment that you can join as right off the bat. We have staff available to answer any questions you may have!

We feature new original lore-specific traditions.

The influence of the Dark Forest is heavily reflected in everyday Clan life.

THE NEW WARRIOR CODEβ€” the Warrior Code was changed to better reflect the values of the Dark Forest. Changes include: Newly appointed warriors will visit the Place of No Stars in their dreams after receiving their warrior name; A cat cannot be deputy without having won at least one battle; A warrior may neglect a kit in pain or danger if it puts the warrior's life in danger as well, or if the kit is from an enemy Clan; An honorable warrior will kill other cats to win their battles and to reduce the enemies of their Clan and to ensure peace.

NEW MEDICINE CAT PRACTICESβ€” medicine cats are no longer your friendly healers who stay out of conflict. Medicine cats now use various sketchy methods such as euthanasia, amputation, herb testing, poisoning, "surgery," and bloodletting. Medicine cats are also permitted to have mates and kits, but are expected to put their Clan first. Medicine cats are trained in battle and are expected to prioritize their Clan over others. They also enforce the "survival of the fittest" mindset of the Dark Forest, and may reject injured or sick clanmates if they feel they are not worth it or need to learn to "suck it up."

THE DEPUTY BATTLEβ€” rather than a leader choose one deputy, the leader must choose at least two contenders. These two warriors must have a public fight either to the death or to submission for the position. Whoever loses the fightβ€”either by surrendering or dyingβ€”loses the position, and the winner becomes deputy.

THE VISITING CEREMONYβ€” new warriors no longer sit vigil; instead, they go to sleep and are greeted by spirits in the Dark Forest. The spirits will judge them, their worth, and their talents, and then mark them with a scar anywhere on the body. The spirit may also give advice, teach a new battle move, give messages, or drop foreboding omens and prophecies. It is said that the larger and more gruesome the scar, the greater the warriors' destiny and worth. Those who are mutilated by their scarβ€”either by being blinded, paralyzed, or otherwise disfigured in a life-changing wayβ€”are marked as traitors and cats that the Dark Forest is displeased with. Once the ceremony is completed, the new warriors sleeps a deep, dreamless night, and when they wake up, the scar has healed, never to fade away.

DARK NAMINGβ€” the influence of the Dark Forest is also reflected in naming practices. After the New Era settled in, queens began naming their kits after things that were dark, violent, or gruesome in nature, both as a hope that their kits would grow up to be strong, powerful warriors, and to prove to the Dark Forest of their devotion. Why name your kit something pathetic like Quietkit or Softkit when you can name them something promising and intimidating like Prowlingkit and Roughkit?

ENFORCERSβ€” there are two warriors in each Clan who are chosen by a Dark Forest spirit. These warriors become Enforcers, and are tasked with enforcing and upholding the will of the Dark Forest by reporting traitors, gathering information, and ensuring that the Clan does not stray too far from the influence or values of the Dark Forest. Enforcers are public in RiverClan and ThunderClan, meaning that their clanmates know who they are; those in ShadowClan and WindClan are private, and their clanmates must tread lightly, for the Enforcer may always be listening...

OLD ERA ELDERSβ€” although the Dark Forest purged the Clans of every cat who had even a slight memory of StarClan years ago, they kept alive one elder from each Clan as a reminder of their power and mercy. These "old era elders" are the oldest cats in the Clans and are the only cats who have any memory of StarClan. Some may still believe in them; some may now follow the Dark Forest. Old Era Elders are kept alive because their memories keep the Dark Forest powerful; memories of StarClan's destruction and the fear and uncertainty it caused gives the Place of No Stars added strength and influence.

Your character is not required to be evil, cruel, or violent on the daily. As long as they don't break the Warrior Code or actively defy or resist the Dark Forest, they can be as friendly and happy as you'd like! These cats have no concept of StarClan and are unable to fathom that there is a "heaven" to the "hell." This is simply a normal way of life for them; even the friendliest of cats in this roleplay are capable of the most gruesome murdersβ€”not because they enjoy it, but just because it is normal.

I just didn't know where else to put it.

➼ ShadowClan is currently closed while we wait for the other three Clans to catch up to them in terms of characters and members.
