The name is a mixture of Tamashi and Kiga. Tamashi means soul and Kiga something like hunger in Japanese

How are they create

Tamagashis died hungry, mostly by starvation. But sometimes they also die hungry, for example for power or love. For this reason, a piece of their soul remains in the body. This piece is then the monster in their tail. Also called Mashi

What is a Tamagashi

Tamagashis are something like ghosts or undead. They have actually already died, but part of their soul is still in their body, which is why they live. Since their soul takes the form of an angel/demon, their body also adapts. If the soul cannot make up its mind, the Tamagashi has both characteristics, but it can also happen that they die incredibly "hungry" or have suffered a lot.
