Setting
A post-apocolyptic world in the distant future of what was previously a planet similar to earth.
Its previously favorable conditions were destroyed by the melting of the ice caps, mass flooding, and mass extinction. What is left is a world of sea, with very few and far between islands, populated by surviving species of animals and human experiments. Humans have become more of a myth, as none have been seen in over a century. Many speculate their existence mere folklore than fact.

Inhabitants
A new civilization of anthropomorpic animals has replaced the humans' center in the world. They have established countries, empires, and mass trade organizations. Their world is very similar to present-day Earth, with technology, capitalization, and multitudes of vibrant cultures.

Weather & Topography
Weather is often very severe and dangerous. Rain is a torrential downpour lasting several weeks at a time, droughts are harsh and long lasting, creating dust-bowl like conditions, and storms are violent and deadly. When there are no storms, weather and temperature are different in different parts of the world. It is very hard to find a temperate climate.
Most of the land is covered in dirt of varying quality and type, desert sands, and sparse vegetation. Trees are uncommon, and therefore highly coveted and even protected by law. To injure or cause death to a tree is not only a punishable crime, it is seen as immoral, sickening, and shameful.

Beliefs, Culture, Religion
The leading belief in Sorbet is that their world is doomed to an ill fate, and many await the world's "final days". Instead of viewing this as something to fear, it is seen as a blissful end- a peaceful relief for the world they live in and believe is pained and tired. They believe their World Mother is as readily willing to close her eyes and rest eternally, as is an elder.

The cultures within the land are inumerable. Most islands that have been conquered by Empires have been modernized and capitalized on; cities, factories, and opportunity. There are many islands that are also controlled by the Empire and considered modnernized, however they may be rural farming lands; they are not as heavily monitored by the law. Islands that are independent are wild; travel to wild islands by common citizens of the Empire is heavily restricted. Modern peoples either believe independent islands are either populated by savage creatures, barren wastelands, and/or privately owned by the Empire.
