Life Cycle

Sylven are a migratory species. They need inspiration to reach their final forms; when a world fills up or becomes boring/overused, a new generation of Sylven emigrate to new worlds!

Sylven grow up in their first stage, Uninspired.
Uninspiration doesn't mean that they're completely blank, though! The Uninspiration stage is one of exploration and personal growth.
In the Uninspiration stage of a Sylven's life, the Sylven has one to two colors on its body, and wears different things to experiment with future Inspirations.
In rare cases, the Sylven stays undecided (whether by choice or by nature) and remains in the Uninspiration stage for all of its life.

The middle stage, Curiosity, is where things begin to get... funky.
Curiosity is the shortest phase of a Sylven's lifecycle. During this time, the Sylven has already decided somewhat on an aesthetic or Inspiration, and its body starts to change. (I know what you're thinking, but bear with me here.) The Sylven's colors start to fade in. As well as that, the tips of the tail and antennae start to morph. They become tools for pursuing their Inspiration or otherwise decorations that match the Sylven's Inspiration.

The final phase of a Sylven's lifecycle is Inspiration; it's the stage that Sylven stay in for the rest of their lives.
In the Inspiration stage, the Sylven's form has solidified. It's uncommon for Sylven to have more than one source of Inspiration. When that happens, the Sylven either has multiple tails (each holding the symbol of a different Inspiration) or even a form-changing trait! Shape-shifting Sylven are the rarest of all.

In rare cases, the colors and Inspiration of a Sylven start to fade as they age. Maybe they lost touch with their Inspiration, or they're just very old.
Either way, this starts the Sylven over from the Uninspiration stage. This may be permanent.

Habitat/ Current Inhabited Planet

The newest Sylven-inhabited planet is Vexyll, an arid planet weathered and stained by years on years of dust storms. Its previous inhabitants vacated the planet for reasons unknown to the Sylven (namely Mari) that now live in the pre-built cities on its surface.

Forests and jungles do exist on Vexyll, but are hidden away in pockets below the planet's crust.

The largest Sylven city as of yet is the Outpost, the very first city that Mari landed in when she got her once-in-a-blue-moon ability to Rift Shift. It's a hub of commercial activity, having been the very first place on Vexyll to put up shops since the previous inhabitants left it.

The Three Moons of Vexyll

Unexplored by Sylven, as of yet.

The largest (or closest) moon is a dark indigo, with a swirling, shifting surface. Documents from the last sapient species uncovered name this moon as Darkling.

The second largest moon, dubbed Xann by Vennie and uncorrected by all, is a shimmering gold-ish hue.

The smallest moon is miniscule compared to Darkling and Xann, and as such is named Bitty. It is a dusty, desaturated orange.

It appears that there has been some confusion with our currency...
What we thought was once a commercial hub of Vexyll has now been confirmed as an "ar-caid". What an odd planet. I like it here already.
The coins we've collected from there (and duplicated by Till) were not a major currency on Vexyll... they were simply a manner of operating the game machines that litter the place.

We've gone too far to turn back now, though.
