INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Cubus Cove, the sexiest corner of Hell! Cubi are an incubus/succubus-inspired open species by nsfwbyraven which was mostly inspired by a need for fun OCs to use for NSFW art. While I don't expect this species to gain any traction, a couple of people were interested in designing their own - so here we are!
SPECIES OVERVIEW
The CUBI (singular: 'cubus') are a demonic subclass whose primary food source is sexual energy. While some cubi prefer to mingle amongst themselves, many will allow themselves to be summoned by mortals for sexual favours since it's mutually beneficial. Over time, many fashion trends and aesthetics originating on Earth have found their way into cubus pop culture so go ham with your designs!
DISCLAIMER (PLEASE READ)
Cubi are a reinterpretation of incubi/succubi from Abrahamic folklore. I also used those existing terms in a new context to make a gender/sex trinary for my own species which is disconnected from the meanings of the orignal words. Cubi are not meant to be demonologically accurate or taken seriously in a religious context.
Rules

- Respect pronouns both in and out of character please!
- Consent is essential. This includes respecting the sexualities and limits of both users and their characters.
- Please don't bring up real-world politics or religion in the forums.
- This is an 18+ space. Minors that try to interact will be kicked.
- Failure to follow these rules may result in a ban.
gender, sexuality, and more
In modern human terms, cubi usually fall under the bi/pan umbrella, but may belong to other labels, including the aro/ace spectrum. Gender constructs aren't as important to cubi as they are to humans, but the vague concept still exists as a gender trinary*:
- Incubus: Coming from the Latin for "to lie upon," this is the word used in some human languages for male and male-aligned cubi, and has taken on the same connotation in Hell.
- Succubus: Derived from the Latin "to lie under," succubi are cubi that equate to women and woman-aligned people.
- Concubus: Seeing gender and sex binaries as insufficient, cubi have coined 'concubus' from the same linguistic source as incubus and succubus. Its use is broad and encompasses nonbinary, intersex, and genitalia-shifting cubi.
*trans man cubi are incubi, and trans woman cubi are succubi
appearance and design
I don't own the concept of incubi/succubi, so the species is open to anybody aged 18 or over. That being said, please tag me if you make a cubus so I can check it out and add them to the masterlist! I haven't developed a list of traits, but there are 4 rules for a cubus design:
- Iris shape: Cubi usually have heart-shaped irises, but as I used to draw mine with slitted eyes (like a snake) that's also allowed!
- Palette: Cubi may have colourful hair/eyes but they always have human skintones. I might make some rare skintone slots once I figure this species thing out!
- Horns and tails: All cubi have horns (in varying shapes) and a tail with a spade-shaped tip, usually in matching colours.
- A fun aesthetic: Cubi love expressing themselves with fashion and makeup from all sorts of eras and subcultures!
