Monthly and Flash Prompts

April 2023 Prompt: Sproutin' Spring!
─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

The rain seems milder than last year.
The brown shades that the snow left behind have started to flourish, revitalising the landscape with all kinds of flowers. Does your pond enjoy this massive bloom?

Draw or write about your pond reacting to or engaging with such a large amount of flowers!

Are they fond of all this greenery? Did they prefer the snow or are they eagerly waiting for summer instead? Do they have any plant allergies? Will they decide to cultivate some flowers or vegetables? Perhaps they'll decorate with them, or wear them, or make a bouquet for a friend?

Rewards: 15 Koi Koins per pond.
Deadline: April 30th 2023 at 11:59pm AoE Time

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

Flash Prompt: TBA

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

There are no active flash prompts right now!

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

Rules and Requirements

These generally apply to all Monthly and Flash prompt submissions.
If a prompt specifies otherwise, you may follow the prompt's instructions (e.g. no background required this time), and use the remaining requirements for other factors in your work (e.g. colours!)

Submit your entry by replying to the comment below!

1. You must have a Pond Bank account in order to earn the rewards.

2. Drawn submissions must include a semi-background
Examples are below, but generally it should look like your ponds are in a scene or comic panel. If you are including multiple ponds in one prompt entry, they can all be added to the same background.
https://www.deviantart.com/endeth/art/Prompt-Bluu-April-Showers-742862930
https://www.deviantart.com/rossebane/art/It-s-Home-Prompt-Entry-827371191

3. You may claim the rewards for three ponds per prompt.
You may add more than one pond in a single prompt entry and earn multiple rewards in one go, or create separate entries for each pond.

4. Pond should be coloured and fullbody.
It's okay if small sections are covered by the environment or make sense to be covered for the piece.
You are also allowed to draw your ponds in an anthro or two-legged style.

5. Your piece must look finished.
Skill level and art style varies between members and we will not deny your entry based on these factors.
However, we may ask you to review your work if it's significantly different from your usual submissions.
You may submit lineless drawings, paintings, watercolours, and use limited colour palettes, for examples of entries we allow!

6. If you prefer to write, the minimum word count is 400 words.
You may write in any style (script, prose, poem, etc) but please note that some formatting (e.g. character names in a script style piece) don't count towards your total words.
Feel free to ask if you're not sure!

7. In written entries, you are welcome to add extra characters into the piece.
Nameless NPCs or non-pond characters should not take the focus away from your pond.
If you want to add more ponds and claim multiple rewards, please add an extra 200 words per pond. The limit of three ponds for prompt rewards still applies!

Dragon's Mantle Investigation!

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

kaya_and_sprout_yooonseouk_geckonomicon.

Sprout: "Hey folks, it's been a while! Hope you had fun in Costa Blanca and got some well-deserved rest."
Kaya: "The storm we weathered before the festival has had a dramatic impact on the rest of the continent. Ponds from all over have been reporting new sights and previously-undiscovered mysteries, so we thought it'd be a good time to kick one of those investigations off!"
Sprout: "Anyone who feels ready for adventure, please get ready... it's time to head back to the Dragon's Mantle!"

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

How to Participate

The event will last a couple of weeks, with some extra time to allow late entries. There will be multiple activities.
Each activity awards 5 Koi Koins.
There is a Rare Vial bonus for entering every activity.
You may complete the activities once per person and in any order.
There will also be some extra, themed prompts (e.g. the monthly prompt). These will have their own rules and koin rewards, posted with each prompt.
If you enter one of the event activities or themed prompts, you will be entered into a raffle at the end of the event's story. [It's a secret!]

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

After a little bit of excitement, Kaya and Sprout lead a little fleet of boats over towards the Draconic Isles. A number of ponds, including you, have joined their expedition - with a few who can fly soaring gracefully overhead.

Your band of would-be explorers and adventurers remain in high spirits as the journey proves smooth and uneventful. You dock on the other side and tie the boats securely to the shore before following Kaya's lead further towards the Dragon's Mantle itself.

Kaya stops at the sight of a vibrant fruit pond ahead.

unknown.png

Tatsuo: "Hey, glad you all made it!"
He grins, and you could swear he winked in your direction, but there's so many other ponds here - there's no way, right?

Tatsuo: "Damn, Kaya, you really pull a crowd together. Alright, listen up! There's lots to do but first, I wanna head into a cave system we uncovered near the serpent's mouth. A couple of local dragons say it extends further down, but that's all I've gotten out of 'em, so far."
The fruity type gestures towards the shaped cliff. Somewhere in the distance, you can hear a waterfall roaring.

Tatsuo: "There's multiple routes to choose from and there's a good chance some of them meet back up, so keep track of where you're headed. Might be an idea to go in groups."

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

You follow Tatsuo with the rest of the crowd.
You enter the serpent's mouth with the others at your heels; an expedition party following rumours and ghost stories, hoping to uncover something hidden within the throat of the great serpent itself.

As you travel, you can see signs of other explorers from long ago. Other dragons, perhaps? Or... older?

Still, the left over, decrepit equipment gave your party leads on paths to follow and soon you stood at the face of... something more.
A light was spotted in the distance - some broke into a run to catch a sight of it first - eventually, however, you all stood in silence looking up at your discovery.

A wall, adorned in fires and bones, in tapestries and gemstones.
Whatever was down here, there was sure to be no going back for a while...

Once your team is ready,
Step fourth and breech the maze

Location Info

Dragon's Mantle:

An island located to the North of the pond lands, inhabited mostly by Dragons and a few other behemoths. Everything here is larger than the average scenery, from gigantic trees to horse-sized flowers; this is a paradise for the larger ponds!

Some ruins lay shattered across the island, half buried by grass and flowers, with odd marks that some say might be an ancient version of the modern Dragon language. It's difficult to get the locals to talk about it, though.

If you're lucky, you may be allowed into the expansive caverns hidden within the hills. There is a rumour that deep within the network of tunnels, this remote location is connected to the Crystal lands.

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

Your expeditions take you far, through trials and frustration, traps and mis-direction.
Not all of your expedition have the will power to push onwards but those who do? They convene in the centre.

Within, you find a gilded room of carvings and art, history of... something long worn away by time. You push your hoof against its cold, stone surface, feeling the centuries-old craftsmanship shift and change in texture under your senses.

The room was built with care, with many artisans putting love and passion into its construction, but what exactly for?

While you wandered the chamber's walls, your guides pondered with fascination.
It wasn't long before a noise pulled you back from musings of the past, back into the now, where the room shifted and gravel fell from centuries left to rest.

It seems Tatsuo found a hidden path, a stairway leading below, and now intended to push forward once more.
Kaya followed at his side, a grin of adventure embossed into her face. Sprout, however, decided it was a bit too much for him.

And so, the party split there, some following Tatsuo and Kaya, with others following Sprout back to the surface.
After all, there had to be just as much to uncover without running into the centre of the terra below!

Deeper into the chambers, you find another door, an unsealed but similarly designed entrance. Clearly, it had been made by the same lives who came before.

This room was warm, humid even; water cascaded around you, even breaching the brick and stone of the chambers itself.
Vegetation and flora seemed to thrive here, large mega-flora flourishing happily, despite the lack of direct sunlight.

When you are ready, hop the stepping stones and begin your next adventure!

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

The humid air engulfed the second maze, its cavernous walls seeming to wind and bend forever. Dead ends began to stack up, parties split and reconvened - some ponds turned back entirely, not wanting to lose themselves in the maze forever. The others, however, driven by a sense of adventure or a lack of self preservation? They push onwards, deeper and deeper into the labyrinth before them.

Waters flowed freely, you noticed as you traveled, unsure how long this had already taken you, or how much longer still stood before you. It was akin to a jungle, deep under the terra’s surface: plants and leaves grew between the bricks, some towering high to the cavern's roof above. Occasional fruit could be seen growing from them - and although you thought better of eating mysterious fruit from a long lost jungle cave, they did linger on your mind. Where exactly were you?

The center was eventually found, as centers often are, cries of relief and frustration ringing through the chamber you found yourselves in.
More carvings and beautiful gemstones adorned multiple pillars and floor tiles. Works of art, tapestries and writings hung on the walls, not that any of your party could read the text. Alas - maybe if you could, you wouldn’t have to keep moving deeper into the murder maze to find answers.

Shame, that.

Once again, another stairwell was found, and once again you traveled down, not ready to give up so easily after coming so far! As you descend, however, a temperature shift makes you start to doubt your choices.

As the stairs wound down, deeper once again into this mysterious place, it began to grow… colder. At first, you assumed it was moving away from the fires and the jungles above, but no, this was an icy chill that even made the frozen ponds in your party shudder down to their… do ponds have bones?

Eventually you had your answers: the stairs ended and you were faced with a choice.
Before you, as the party all pooled down, you were forced to tread more and more carefully. Where there should have been floor was an endless chasm, the bottom of which even the keen sighted could not see, and beyond that further still? Another entrance.

Great fantastical spears of ice forced their way through the stone's approximated face. Snow lay thick and undisturbed on any surface it could, a light flurry of flakes already beginning to settle on your shoulders.
A handful of ice platforms were suspended via chains, old and worn; you were unsure if they could even take one pond’s weight without giving way… let alone all of you. You would have to jump one by one across the gap to progress.

Kaya put her hoof down here. While usually a pond known to act first and think second, she didn’t want to end up part of the local decor.
Tatsuo however, his eyes seemed to gleam with determination. He hadn’t said much since you entered this place - and that was two mazes ago! - but as you looked at him now, he didn’t need words to tell anyone that he planned to see this through to the end. Whatever the ‘end’ may be.

Before she could stop him, before anyone with wings could test them, the party leader broke into all the sprint he could with the space he had, jumping onto the first section of his icy path. He slid, the chains juddered, ponds gasped and others covered their eyes, afraid of what they would see.
Undeterred, however, Tastuo kept his pace strong, bounding from one icy platform to the next - before long, he was in the entrance’s maw, looking back towards the others.

Tatsuo: “Any who wish to follow me are welcome. Those who don’t are probably smarter for it.”
He paused to chuckle, already seeing the look on Kaya’s face.
Tatsuo: “I’ll see you on the other side, Kaya! Say hi to Sprout for me, yeah?”

He could say ‘hi’ to Sprout himself when he resurfaced… right?
Kaya faced the group and let the ponds decide for themselves.

Steeling your courage, you ready to make the jumps yourself. One more maze couldn’t be that bad, right?

Count Abacus' s shop

Posted 1 year, 11 months ago by Pondpedia

EVENT shop

Welcome to the Count's shop

As the bustle of the festival hums vibrantly around you, your ears perk up at the sound of clunking wood. Your gaze weaves hungrily through the passer-bys, curious as to whom or what has caught your attention. A couple of ponds prance out of your way to reveal the source behind them; A large pond with an even larger wooden cart. This pond feels so different to most of the folks you've seen so far; his water shimmers with golden sparkles set against an evening hue; his mane is decorated in such vibrant flowers that you feel like you can still catch their scent; his trio of horns shine brightly in the gorgeous, orange sun; and his shirt crinkles softly in that way that only fresh laundry can. You watch as the owner of the cart continues his work, setting out a careful display of velvet cushions in open, wooden boxes, ready for something to be delicately positioned on top. Each item is placed with precision and care. You decide to trot over and take a closer look, waiting until the merchant has had the chance to settle into place behind his stall.

 ─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

The Count nods amicably in your direction as you begin to approach, acknowledging your presence. He turns back to his book, finishing the page and gently setting his bookmark into place just as you reach him. "Ah, good evening! What a joyous occasion we have here," he smiles, placing the tome down at his side and gesturing towards the ongoing festivities. "My name is Count Abacus. Please, continue to peruse at your leisure. I'll be right here should you have any questions or wish to finalise your purchase."

Pond Pony Species Rules

Posted 2 years, 3 months ago by Pondpedia

This group is the home of the Pond Ponies Closed Species!

Pond Ponies are magical water spirits who resemble horses. Fawnponds are deer and other cervidae who have been transformed by water spirits.

Pond Ponies Species Rules

Keep reading for an explanation of who we are and the guidelines for interacting with the community!

─────❀◦❀◦❀───── ─────❀◦❀◦❀───── ─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

Ownership

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

  1. Ownership of all ponds is tracked on our masterlist, Pondpedia: https://www.deviantart.com/pondpedia
  2. If you want to transfer your ownership to someone else, please comment on the corresponding pondie and tell us who the new owner is!
  3. The new owner must have a deviantArt or ToyHou.se account to transfer ownership to.
  4. The new owner's account must be at least a month old for ownership to be granted to them, or they must be referred by an existing member, or they must tell us what their old account was (if they have recently moved accounts).
  5. For Toyhouse users who can't comment on deviantArt, please use our Discord server to notify us of ownership changes!
  6. We are currently in the process of mirroring Pondpedia on our ToyHou.se account of the same name: https://toyhou.se/pondpedia

Co-Ownership

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

  1. Co-ownership is where more than one person shares ownership of a single design.
  2. We allow a maximum of three owners per design.
  3. Any co-owner is welcome to participate in group events and activities with the design.
  4. Some activities may require confirmation from your fellow co-owners.
  5. The co-ownership rules are likely to change. Please check this again for updates!
  6. If the co-ownership rules do change, any existing or previous co-owns will still be honoured.

Obtaining a Pondie

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

You can obtain your own Pond Pony or Fawnpond through several different means!

  1. Buy a completed design from an official designer.
  2. Buy a custom design from an official designer (a custom allows you to request specific features before the design is complete)
  3. Win a contest or event with a Pond Pony or Fawnpond design as the prize.
  4. Win a contest or event with a MYO as the prize.
  5. Participate in the community to earn Koi Koins and buy a MYO slot from The Frog Pond.
  6. Buy or trade for a pond or MYO that another member of the community is offering for sale or trade.

MYO stands for Make-Your-Own. This is a pond who you design according to the species guidelines.

There are different types of MYO available that give you access to different things, and items to help you further customise your design!

  • You may also commission another artist to make your design for you. Make sure you credit them when you submit your MYO for approval!
  • Community members may create unofficial Pond designs and sell them to the community. You must get these approved with an appropriate MYO before they become an official pond.
  • You may use type and trait altering items to further customise your MYO design when you first submit it for approval and any time after approval (as a redesign).

Species Transfers

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

  1. If you want to create an open, semi-open or closed species design based on your existing pond, the species must allow transfers of existing designs.
  2. If you want to create a pond based on another, existing design, you must have permission from the original designer.
  3. You are allowed to make AU and non-species designs (e.g. human, animal, etc) whenever you like! You must use the pond design to enter for prompts and events.
  4. Any alternate designs must be transferred alongside the pond design if they are sold, traded or gifted away.

Redesigns

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

  1. Redesigns that retain the spirit of the original design are allowed at any time.
  2. Overhauls of the original design require permission from the previous designer.
  3. If your redesign includes type or trait changes, please ensure you have the corresponding items in your Pond Bank account before you submit your redesign for approval. If you are not sure which items you need, please ask!

Unofficial Designs

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

  1. Any member of the community may make unofficial pond designs.
  2. You may offer unofficial designs through any method or payment option you prefer (free, raffles, USD, trades, OTA, merch, etc)
  3. We may ask the community to pause sales or offer trade-only designs while a staff batch or group event is ongoing. Please respect this.
  4. It is your responsibility as the seller or buyer to work out which traits are used in the design.
  5. You are welcome to ask us to check whether your trait list is correct, or whether something you have drawn is suitable for a specific trait. Please contact us through Discord or DA.
  6. If you are selling unofficial designs, please offer to edit the design if a trait issue is raised during MYO submission, or indicate that you allow others to edit your artwork.
  7. Please keep all unofficial sales to the Advertisements area (where non-species trade listings are allowed) and clearly state they are unofficial designs in your post.

Sales, Trades and Gifts

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

  1. You may sell your pond for the price you paid for them, plus the worth of any commissioned artwork. Items used on the design may be included in the price, but the value should be appraised by us!
  2. If the total worth of your pond is under $20 (USD), you may accept up to $20 in exchange for them.
  3. If your pond was traded or gifted to you, you may only accept other trades in exchange for them.
  4. If you are unsure of the price or need us to check it, please message us for an appraisal!

  5. If a MYO was gifted to you, you may only trade or gift it to another person.
  6. You are allowed to resell MYOs for the standard USD prices or lower. This includes MYOs traded to you and MYOs purchased with Koi Koins. However, please do not buy MYOs with koins solely to resell them for USD - we reserve the right to intervene on sales like this.
  7. Restricted MYOs are not meant to be sold for USD, so we will ask you to sell them for less than the usual Koi Koin conversion rate.

  8. "Trades" can include other character designs, artwork, real-life merchandise, and USD vouchers (please ask if you're not sure what vouchers are!)
  9. If you are leaving the community and want to sell your ponds, please message us for an appraisal!
  10. If your pond design is based on a character from another piece of media (e.g. a character from a game or TV show), please state which character they are based on in your advertisement.

Retired Ponds

─────❀◦❀◦❀─────

  1. Retired ponds are no longer considered part of the community and are not bound by any of our species rules.
  2. If you wish to buy a retired pond from another person, you are always able to un-retire them by contacting Pondpedia.
  3. If you unretire a pond, we will need to make sure the design you want to use for them still follows the species guidelines.
  4. To retire a pond, just comment on their Pondpedia pages or note Pondpedia with their masterlist links!

(Open the guide in its own page to interact with the shop buttons)

The waters from this pond are known to change features of Pondponies and Fawnponds. You can take a dip if you like as long you have koi koins.
Some legends say that some ponds come here to get a proper new look when they get tired of their old appearance as well.

The Frog Pond accepts Koi Koins as currency.

lava

lava_by_stygian_nyx_deygqt2-pre.png?toke

  • Mythical type
  • Their ponds / lava is cool to the touch but can be extremely hot if the pondpony wants it to be. So be careful, you might lose a hoof!
  • When they open their eyes, lava commonly runs down the corners of their eyes. This is very annoying to them at times so they greatly prefer to maintain them closed. Having them open or closed isn't much of a difference anyways since they can't exactly 'see' when their eyes are open. again, it's more of an annoyance to them.
  • Their lava/magma starts to bubble rapidly when angered
  • Their manes tend to be drippy
  • They are commonly found in dry / rocky areas
  • They actively avoid water but some enjoy being near it
  • When in contact with water, their mane / pond can solidify into rock and will take quite a while to go back to normal
  • If they have any kind of nature, it will be charred

FAWNponDs

vISUAL TRAIT GUIDE.

Fawnpond anatomy

(Open the guide to interact with the trait buttons)

Fawnponds are a cervidaes that have a body of water on their back.
Unlike Pondponies who are born with their ponds, Fawnponds were born regular stags and does
It is said that when a cervidae has proven their devotion for nature and the forest in which they dwell, the spirits grant them these traits
The stronger their connection, the more of the forest they seem to take on.

vISUAL TRAIT GUIDE.

Pond Pony anatomy

(Open the guide to interact with the trait buttons)

Pondponies are equines that have a body of water on their back. They have the power to make bubbles and control waters. Their manes and tails are always made out of a form of water. While Pondponies can have a wide range of coat colors and body types, every Pondpony has four features in common.

  • Gradients between common colours do not add any rarity.
  • Everything else is considered rare, using more than one colour doesn't adds rarity.
  • Iridiscence is a rare trait consisting in soft coloured streaks or patches that appear on the pond's water. Edges must be blurry and can be of one colour or multiple.

Main STONE and power stones

  • Main stone is the middle stone the pondie has around their neck while the secondary stones are named power stones.
  • A pondie can have different main, power and pond stones.
  • Natural shapes are common, special shapes are uncommon.
  • When it comes to the common stone trait, common power stones will have natural, dull, or earthy tones to them.
  • Mist stones emanate elemental vapour depending of the pond’s type. A lava pond pony could emanate smoke from them, a galaxy pond pony could spark nebula like mist.
  • Combos between stone materials will just add a trait, for example, a pondie with a semiprecious main stone and standard stones will gain both traits
dezbrkt-b24debf8-6b3a-49a9-9e72-e7e1268e
Main stone is the central stone, power stones are the secondary ones around the pond's neck
It is uncommon for the main stone to be shaped differently to all the other neck stones.
