Claches are the embodiment of failure, medical failure. What had been assumed to be a flawless experiment, quickly became a horror show. Bodies were breaking down, developing unusual appearances and behaviours. Those who maintained their humanity and self, hid in the shadows or hid behind objects [wearable, such as masks, hoods, etc] to disguise themselves. Those who didn't maintain their humanity didn't seem to care about who they encountered or what particularly happened, becoming dubbed as monsters.

Those who tried to hide became outcasts, and created their own city, their own safety. Having their own safe haven, a place where the normal didn't really enter, meant they no longer had to hide. They opened their own shops, boutiques, and more importantly, their own sense of normalcy. The city provided a space where they could come to terms with what happened to them, with themselves and provided healing.

Others chose to not involve themselves with the city, choosing their own path and their own company.
