As the son of a successful, well-respected politician, and soon-to-be heir of the position, Lawren was placed on a pedestal surrounded by unrealistic expectations. His life goals were curated by his father from the very beginning to ensure that Lawren would be nothing short of obedient and "perfect." Lawren was raised to be respectful of authority regardless of how they treated him, resulting in him looking up to his father and Artemis, to whom he was introduced at a young age, and perceiving them through rose-tinted glasses. Even though he was constantly surrounded by members of the church, he was still nothing but kind and understanding to those who were considered the "enemy." In private, however, he was rebellious, adventurous, and lived off of the adrenaline of misbehaving.

Once his father re-married and Loey was born, Lawren took care of her in place of his neglectful father, justifying that neglect in any way he possibly could. The two siblings were very close up until Loey's mother was caught mingling with exorcists behind their father's back. Following this, her suicide created a rift between Lawren and Loey, with Loey isolating herself from her family. Even with each negative and degrading lie his father would place in his mind, Lawren still adored his little sister.

Lawren was unprepared for the moment he walked into his father's lab and found him dead on the floor with Loey, covered in blood, standing over him. From that moment on, Artemis took Lawren in and raised him, but he lost his sister. He soon took his father's place in the church, thrust into a position for which he was not prepared, and looked to Artemis for support. As long as he could make his late father and Artemis proud, regardless of the immense amount of self-inflicted pressure he was under, the end justified the means.
