Law of Reversal

Lazarus' magical ability allows him to revert things to a previous state of being. Living things are only temporary and inanimate objects are permanent. For example: He can turn a diamond into coal and can bring a wilted flower back to life, however, it may be found wilted once more the next day.

Affliction

Using his abilities to harsher lengths may incur painful bouts of migraines that can leave him bedridden for several days. His migraines are so harsh that he keeps his bedroom as minimalistic as possible to avoid injuring himself further with excess stimulation.

Musical Ear

Lazarus has always had propensity for music. You may sometimes hear him singing or humming to himself while relaxing. If you follow his voice, you may find him perched upon a window, singing a soft or happy melody. Other times, it will be during a nice walk. The songs he sings are those he shared with his late wife. He enjoys singing for his loved ones.

Curses!

Lazarus is not a man to hold back his words and is very blunt in his speech. In this way, he has a habit of cursing during times that may seem inappropriate. It is usually always in an archaic kittenese.

My House, my Rules

Lazarus can be very strict about his rules. He believes that order and structure is necessary to build discipline and a more healthy lifestyle. Though, some of the rules he sets are very particular and perhaps considered strange from someone who does not share his sense of morals or personal code of ethics. He doesn't mind his son, Florian, shooting arrows at his servants, however, if you are late for dinner, you can expect to be served nothing that night! There is no such thing as leftovers. Those who defy the rules set in his home are often punished accordingly.

A Van Leeuwen Promise

When he gives his word, you can guarantee he will follow through with it, one way or another. If betrayed, he will stop at nothing to see that his vengence is exacted without much care for the consequences his actions might face. A trait shared amongst most if not all of the Van Leeuwen Family.

About

Lazarus Eppilus Azazel Van Leeuwen, head of the fourth family branch, comes from a bloodline of aristocrats. As a first born in a noble family firmly placed high atop the social ladder of their community, his life has always been filled with immesurable responsibility. He immediately hit the books from a young age in preparation for when he would take up the family business. Traditionally, the Van Leeuwens are known for raising generations of morticians. Their family has provided funeral care and death sanitation service for hundreds of years, making them responsible for the aftermath care of a third of the populace. With such close ties to the dead and wealth beyond what the family could spend in their lifetime, they are a group of powerful kits that are often reveared and feared by their peers.

However, as times are changing, he is only one of few in his family left to uphold their customs; the majority of his cousins opting for different career paths. Though, with much to run, he is still aided by other family members from time to time. In truth, Lazarus was never truly interested in the macabre to the extent of his father but fell into the family business as was expected, and naturally excelled in it. Overtime, he found joy in the field, appreciating the work he does as a form of art and it has somehow become a great bonding experience with his own son, Florian. Now he hopes that his child will eventually take up the job when he's older, as upholding tradition means a lot to him.

Honorably Himself

Although he may appear joyously free spirited, Lazarus is a man who abides by strict regimen and order. Without any rules set in place, his inner temptations would lead him to ruin. His rigorous and determined attitude is often met with the admiration of his peers. He is truly someone to depend on in the workplace. He will speak up in place of his colleagues if the situation were unjust, and take the short end of the stick if it meant that his sacrifice would lead to a net positive. However honorable Lazarus may seem, he is only truly honorable in the way he follows his own code of ethic. Although his code may sometimes influence good in the world, he is not averse to committing acts of evil as necessary if it were to adhere to his own principals. His only interest is the advancement of his family up the hierarchical pyramid. As cold as this may be, Lazarus is a fiercely loyal friend, and when he has given his word, it is a bond that is not so easily broken. He will fight tooth and nail for his loved ones and sacrifice for them. If he wants his way, he would see through it that it gets done, no matter the means.

He spoils the ones he likes and looks down upon those who fall beneathe him in the caste system. He would help the poor and weak to appear gracious or to aid his own cause, but finds them pitiable all the same. Being raised in one of the most powerful families in purrasia that uphold tradiation. he is more inclined to respect those with status and can be rather bigoted. With that said, he has no qualms with allowling his ideals and thoughts being known. As a wealthy individual who has faced few consequences in his life, he does not hold back his words and generally opts to use vulgar and straightforawrd language to help effectly express himself.

A Family Curse

Coming from a powerful family of prolific dark magic users, it is well known that the family is cursed. Each generation of Van Leeuwens have endured a series of misfortune and Lazarus is no exception. In his college years, he had the fortune, or rather, misfortune, of falling deeply in love with an exchange student who he soon married to his father's dismay. At the time, Lazarus already had a slew of marriagable candidates prepared by his parents who were eager to proposition him. By his father's words, he told Lazarus "That woman will surely bring the family unhappiness" and in a way, his father may have been right.

Lazarus' wife, Erena, who was of poor health, died shortly after the birth of their son, Florian, which sent Lazarus spriraling into a depressive state. For weeks, he would lock himself away, neglecting his work, health, family and newborn in the process. This took a toll on his little sister, Elsbeth, who could not bear the loneliness she felt as her older brother strayed further away from her. In an attempt to make a new friend, she would reanimate a corpse using body parts acquired from the family morgue with a forbidden spell locked away in an old tome, only to pay the greatest price. With blood sputtering out of her orfaces, she would slowly succumb to the after effects of the spell she cast. This incidant snapped Lazarus back to reality as he rushed to his little sister's aid. He would use his own magic to restore her to a more lively state. However, as his magic only lasts temporarily, he must always be around to heal his sister lest her body rots and dies. It is a reminder of his responsibility towards his family.
