Eva has an innate desire to stand out from the crowd and excel at everything she does, if only to rub it in her enemies' faces. While she does have a natural talent for many things, if she fails the first time then no she didn't. It didn't happen. Ignoring or covering up grim realities is also how she deals with her and her friends' lifestyle, coincidentally.
