Ray Ference

He deserved to be famous and sough after. Only one being understood that.
So to be the face of everything, he gave up his own face.

Modeling had always been Ray's dream. To have all those cameras pointed at you, to have your face plastered on every ad possible, to influence people's decisions with one smoldering look. He'd wanted it for so long and tried hard to get it, but was always, always rejected. His looks, though not terrible, were not good, and his body was not strong or chiseled; his personality lacked; he had no connections. He was a nobody asking to be the face of a brand, and no one wanted that.

Ray was disheartened, but he never gave up. In fact, he pushed harder. Selling most of his things to move to Hollywood, he picked up a meager minimum-wage job at a coffee shop while trying for model positions on the side. Yes, he was made fun of by any he told, but it was fine. Weren't the movies like this? When you're down on your luck, that's when the golden chance appears?

And one day that golden chance did appear, when he'd reached his limit.

It was a simple mistake. Whole milk instead of skim. It was spat out at him. The drink was tossed in his direction. Screams, profanities, threats. All by a famous fashion designer. Any chances he had at modeling were gone with a screamed promise that he'd be blacklisted and never be allowed to do anything besides low wage jobs for the rest of his life. She demanded he was gone, the manager obliged.

When Ray got back to his apartment, it was up in flames by his neighbor's haphazardly tossed cigarette.

Everything was gone: his home, his money, his dreams. There was nothing left for him.

Then the golden chance appeared to him in the form of a tall man with a lamp for a head. He offered him the chance to have it all, just as long as he could use his fame to spread his influence. It sounded shady, it probably was, but there was nothing left for him to lose.

Fast forward and Ray is now one of the top professional models in the world. His poses are said to help shape the art world, from pictures to drawings, and products he advertises are always sure to increase in value. All the pains of the past were gone, flooded out by fame and money. He was a new man, the vessel for the Sin of Pride, and he would put his face on the entire planet and then some.

Notes: When I look at artists on Twitter I see them make those "OC Pairings like this are amazing" and it'll show pose references, right? Or even looking at YCHs you see the craziest references! I started thinking that they're so expressive and mysterious, what if a reference itself was a character?
For the story, I asked friends what to do with him and one gave the idea that he'd be Pride. It wasn't until I was writing his backstory just now that I had to remember my own rules for Sins, and the longer I thought, (the more tired I got lol) the more ideas came until I got something I'm pretty satisfied with.

Personality: Whether by being drunk off of fame or under the influence of Pride, Ray has become what he hated. Like the Sin he accepted, he is a proud man that values himself above all else. You may think he's arrogant, blunt, and rude, but to him he knows his worth and won't let you mess with that. Really, you ought to be grateful he's even giving you any of his very valuable time.

Non-Human Abilities:
- Immortality - Housing a Sin prevents him from aging.
- Mist - His aura and power manifests as a gold fog/mist that can hide him and even teleport him. It can even solidify as a lion and fight for him.
- Anything You Can Do - He can do better. Mist will copy his opponent's abilities and give it a slight amplification. This may only be used on one move at a time and has a long set-up time. He cannot use Mist in any other way while using this.
- Hall of Mirrors - A special, world-bending ability. The opponent(s) surroundings will turn into an enormous funhouse maze of mirrors. These mirrors will sometimes show different reflections of Ray, each of which is a different perception of him. Reflections are capable of traveling between mirrors and stepping out to attack the opponent(s).
- Full Form - Fully synchronizing with Pride will grant Ray an enormous buff to strength, stamina, speed, and defense. He will change appearances here, but the most noticeable change will come from his new power - Mirror, Mirror - where Pride will slowly start absorbing his opponent into one of his mirrors to trap in forever, where their soul is later snacked on and body turned into a reflection for Hall of Mirrors. Breaking the mirror will stop the ability for a short while, though Anything You Can Do has a significantly shorter cooldown.

Drawing Details: He ain't got a face ! Draw a reference pose/base... and that's him! He'll have ears, a nose is optional, you can sometimes do the eyebrows and grin but not always. For the most part he is simply... smooth.
Clothes-wise, he has a baseball cap on with a denim jacket and a salmon hoodie underneath. Basic jeans and basic shoes.

Fun/Extra Facts:

- He absolutely will spit his drink out at you and threaten you if you give him whole milk instead of skim milk.

- The kind of guy that will take pictures next to an expensive car he found and talk about how it's his.

- Surprisingly, not many people talk about him not having a face.

- It's possible people think it's a gimmick and that that in itself boosted his fame.

- He can still do everything he needs a face for, like smelling or eating. Don't ask him how, even he doesn't know.

- Was definitely a theater kid in high school. Trash talks them.

- Definitely also the kind to have taken thousands of emo selfies with "deep" quotes underneath them.

- He's like an old time comic book character he poses several times while he's talking.

- Autographs and pictures are $15 each. No discounts for kids.

- Pride has a very easy time manipulating him.

- The kind to make obviously staged tiktoks/instagram videos that put him as a good person (ie picking up trash on the beach then leaving it there when he's done)

- When becoming a Sin's host, one must sacrifice part of themselves to them in exchange for their powers. Some changed their hair and eye colors, some gave up literal parts of their body. Ray gave up his face.

- On his right leg is a brand that changes to each reader's native language. It will always read the equivalent to "PRIDE".

- Losing the will to live makes one's body hollow enough to house a second soul, making them possible hosts for Sins. If a host ever falls in love and says, "I love you", it proves that they've found a will to live, and the Sin's soul will be forcibly ejected from the host's body. For many, this results in killing them.
