Profile
Marilou Claudi
[ About ]
A veteran encyclopedist and coven witch, adept at exploring the Uncharted Lands. Born and raised in Fogmere, Marilou is a near stereotypical picture of one of its citizens. She is a scholar, first and foremost, but a formidable mercenary, as well. Being a cute little lady did not stop her from developing a unique fighting style, incorporating her powerful wind magic into various crafty projectile and explosive weapons. She has developed a bit of a local reputation as a result, but still, people are reluctant to join her expeditions, for some reason.
Marilou has been contributing to the natural sciences of the Haven Plane as soon as she knew how to put pen to paper. She travels the Uncharted Lands in search of undiscovered flora and fauna, putting her life at risk for just the chance to observe the various life cycles of the world’s unique creatures. Few have as much patience and courage when it comes to sciences, particularly those involving incredibly dangerous wildlife, and months-long expeditions into unpredictable environments. But what’s life without a challenge?
Currently, Marilou has set her sights on one particular creature: the Murkblight. Why anyone in their right mind would decide to chase such a volatile animal with such a small party is a complete and total mystery, but Marilou has unshakable confidence in the matter. However, that confidence may begin to waver, as in the middle of her expedition, a lost young girl suddenly tumbles out of the bushes, and into the care of her band of rag-tag mercenaries…

[ Design notes & Trivia ]
Marilou is a short, chubby, and stocky middle-aged halfling of roughly 130cm tall. Her hair is a raven black, and kept in a bun. There are freckles on her chubby cheeks, and she wears glasses. She has rabbit’s ears on the sides of her head, a rabbit’s tail, and long, broad, hairy feet, with rabbit-like nails — which she keeps cut short. She wears a tall witch’s hat in a pastel cyan, which matches with her similarly colored frock. She wears leather armor over her frock, as well as a pale metallic stomach guard around her waist. She carries a cute and frilly umbrella, which serves also as a weapon.
- you wouldn’t think it, but she’s an awful baker.
- when not busy with work, she enjoys crocheting and gardening (a plethora of poisonous plants… keeps the vermin out!)
- she grew up with four siblings, and is the aunt to six nieces and nephews, with a seventh on the way.
- she worships Harrsun, the God of Patience in the Fogmere Plains pantheon.
[ Relationships ]
Ilmar has been traveling with Marilou the longest, having made their traveling agreement all the way back in his home in Amisdallen. The two have absolutely stellar synergy, both in battle and in navigation of the wilds. Surprisingly, Marilou manages to get the elf out of his shell a little bit, often being the only one to genuinely engage in conversation with him. Whether she will continue to behold him as a friend after the quest is over, well... Only time will tell!
Marilou greatly appreciates Raiva for hir reliability. If anyone is efficient, a quick thinker, and overall in alignment with her priorities, it would be Raiva. Ze makes for a much better conversational partner, but she can't help but feel like Raiva is keeping her at an arm's length. And given this is Raiva we're talking about, those are some very long arms. Well, she can't blame hir for wanting to stay professional!
A girl that came stumbling completely unexpectedly into Marilou's journey, completely tumbling over all her plans and priorities. But she's such a sweet young lady, she can't be mad at her for it. She considers Lucille a hard-working, yet incredibly feisty person, and isn't quite sure how to act around her. It appears that her old lady charms do nothing but get on the girl's nerves! She worries for her, and has set everything aside to help escort Lucille to safety. Even so, she can't help but notice a certain potential in the girl...
Oh, you know, Vitiro is nice enough, but... Frankly, he was a last-minute addition to the team, after overestimating the party's self-sufficiency in the realm of first aid. Of course, Vitiro is a graduate of the highest caliber of healers, as Marilou never takes second-best for an option. Still, he's far too much of a rookie for her liking, but she has to work with the hand she's dealt. If he wasn't so stubborn, so distant, and, frankly, so unremarkable, she might make more of an effort to get along better with him.
