Yuzhen

Introduction

A Qilin who served as Jianqing's lieutenant when he was still a general known as Lingyan. Upon Jianqing’s ascendance to the imperial throne, Yuzhen was named the Grand Marshal for the role he played in overthrowing the previous tyrant emperor.

While Qilins are typically gentle and pacifistic folk, Yuzhen is a cold and reserved individual capable of violence at a single command. He sees himself as a soldier, first and foremost, a belief moulded by his cruel upbringing at the hands the previous dragon emperor. He is extremely stubborn and independent, but also fiercely loyal, particularly towards Jianqing. At the same time, he is dutiful and disciplined, taking his responsibilities very seriously, even at the cost of his own well-being.

Prudish by nature, he is averse to (and easily flustered by) any sort of romantic gestures. It is for that reason that he has vowed to take the secret feelings he harbours for Jianqing to his grave. A certain wily fox, however, would say that he’s being much too obvious.

Trivia

• Like most other Qilin, he is vegetarian. Ingesting meat would make him violently ill. He does not like to eat anything with excessive oil or spices either. 
• His favourite food is camellia flowers, especially ones that are freshly plucked from the stem.
• He has two swords - a standard issue steel sword for fighting, and a decorative sword made of pure jade, which was a gift from Jianqing
• He can disguise himself in shadows and travel through them quickly, which proves to be useful for espionage missions.
• He doesn’t particularly like physical touch as well
