Hilana

BIO

Hilana is a Jeljellian, and, like many members of her near-extinct species, an orphan, separated from her parents before she ever had a chance to know them. Not much is known about whatever event led to a vast majority of the Jeljellian species being wiped out, and Hilana doesn't remember much, either. It was such a long time ago, she was young, and her mind's blocked out a lot of the memories anyway. Having lived completely alone for her entire life, she was no match for the meteo swarms that inevitably targeted Jeljel, and as a matter of fact, was rescued by the Ark severely wounded and unconscious. Waking up in a completely new environment hurting all over and surrounded by people she'd never met and had no idea how to communicate with was, understandably, completely overwhelming for Hilana, and she had to be left alone for quite some time and approached slowly before she could begin to open up.

Quiet, shy and frightened, Hilana is difficult to interact with and mostly keeps to herself. That said, despite her rather understandable anxiety, she's quite curious about the world around her and enjoys learning as much as she can. Her room is a hoard of books (stored carefully so they don't burn, of course) and she can usually be found with her nose in one. There are precious few members of the Ark crew that she's comfortable around, but those who are recieve her affection in subtle, quiet, soft ways.

While most of her emotions are generally low and quiet, Hilana's anger- if rarely exhibited- is explosive. This also tends to be when she exhibits a particularly fascinating trait of Jeljellian anatomy- the ability to melt into and merge with lava, becoming a red-hot mass of molten rock and rage. Even in a normal state, her body has a subtle internal glow, most easily seen in her mouth or her hot, bright-orange blood.
