Like the Saint, the Unbound is an echo, sitting between the physical world and ascension. Unlike the Saint, the Unbound has found a way to break free of whatever bound them to their original location, and unlike all other echoes, they can freely move around the world. Their visual similarity to Depths guardians is, at the moment, a mystery.
