Personality

Mara is an excitable, optimistic bundle of joy. She is  super gregarious and willing to make friends with everyone. The only  time she’s shy is when a cute woman is involved, which can send her  stammering and blushing in an instant. Some may find Mara a little  annoying since she has a tendency to talk loud, quickly, and over top of  other people… especially when they get her talking about a subject  she’s interested in. She’s not very good at noticing when she does this.  

Despite her ADHD, Mara is really well organized.  That said, she’s still prone to hyperfocus. Her tendency to throw  herself into any project she’s working on can cause her to neglect food  or sleep, plus she gets over-excited and doesn’t fully think about any  risks. She’s fixated with getting more powerful; never at the cost of  her morals, but certainly at great risk to herself. Being perfectly  honest, she’s only even seeking power in the first place because the  process is fun: to her it’s about the journey, not the reward. A cheap  shortcut to power wouldn’t satisfy her, but overcoming hurdles through  hard work and planning is.

Mara is a psychopath, but not  a violent or antisocial one. Her lack of inhibition and fear are a  major component to her charming personality. It's true that her empathy  and remorse are impaired, but she's been taught sympathy and treats it  with importance. Still, she has a tendency to do bad things for good  reasons, and isn't afraid to lie to or manipulate anyone if she feels it  will protect those she cares about. It can be very hard to tell when  she's lying, and even harder to tell if she's doing it for her own sake  or for someone else's. She definitely overestimates her own  capabilities, which can lead to danger, but she thrives on having her back pressed against the wall and values what she can learn from it.



Backstory

Mara was born in poverty and desperately searched for a way out. One day, she discovered she had a natural talent for magic, which she put to use, escaping poverty and joining a coven of magic users. The coven, follow a style of  “grey” demonology that utilizes miniscule portions of demonic essence as a source of spellcasting fuel.  However, she was not progressing through the ranks as quickly as she liked, and was tired of having to do menial labor and chores, so she cast an ambitious spell in secret, a “permanent” modification of a spell that ordinarily would temporarily grant the caster an extra pair of arms. Unfortunately, the modifications meant she absorbed an entire demon’s essence instead of a small portion, leaving her permanently possessed by a demon named Kvar. Also, she got expelled. Whoops.

Mara was in a dark spot for some time, but eventually befriended Kvar. Then, later, she and Kvar got forcibly summoned to multiverse hub world to partake in a multiverse fighting competition. Unfortunately, she and Kvar were placed on different teams, with a suppression collar in place when only one or the other should partake in any given battle. Mara quite enjoys this opportunity, even while other competitors are trying to escape. Fighting strong people from worlds with different systems of magic (or even technology!) means she has a lot to learn, and as death isn't permanent, she can take far more risks than she ordinarily would.



Trivia
  • Mara's world uses a 13 month calendar of 28 days each
  • Her hair is ridiculously fluffy, even as short as it may be.
  • Very squishy, gives incredible hugs.
  • Doesn't consider herself to be masculine, aside from her choice to keep her hair short. Her culture doesn't care about body hair, and it doesn't have an equivalent to the term "tomboy." She's still often mistaken to be a dude.
  • Despite her androgynous appearance, her voice is far from masculine.
  • TERRIBLE at cooking. Can't seem to stop herself from multitasking, which often ends in disaster.
  • Kvar isn't my OC, even if she shares a body with Mara.
  • Attempting to banish Kvar would kill Mara as her arms mutate into tumors that would overtake her body. Kvar's essence is necessary to keep the spell stable.
  • Mara is "ambidextrous", dominant with her top left hand and lower right hand. It technically is using both left and right. MiniMilkshake1001
  • Her glasses are enchanted, her vision is poor enough that mundane glasses could not fully fix it.
  • She has ADHD. She also has all the traits of a psychopath, minus the antisocial behavior. Her morality is learned, not innate.
  • Due to a ritual she casts every now and then, her strength and speed are magically enhanced, and her sense of pain is dulled. The scarred skin around her shoulders are still pretty sensitive, though.
  • Takes advantage of her goofiness to get others to underestimate her. Sometimes she'll even exaggerate it. She can get serious when the time calls for it, but can sometimes slip up.
  • One of her body alteration spells is a Big Tiddy spell. She will deny knowing it if asked.
  • When Kvar isn't suppressed, she and Mara can take part in 2v2 tag team fights even while sharing the same body.
  • The sensation a body morphing spell causes feels weird at first. Mara's not only used to it, but enjoys the feeling now.
  • In Mara's home universe, any body of water larger than a bathtub is incredibly dangerous, due to the malevolent ocean deity Ekalisse. As such, Mara has persistent aquaphobia... which is not an uncommon or irrational fear where she's from.
