Summary
What do you think of when you hear the word elf? Tall, vegan forest inhabitants with dashing good looks, a peaceful demeanor, and the tendency to live much longer than most other similar creatures? What comes to mind when you think of gorillas? Tall, vegan forest inhabitants with dashing good looks, a peaceful demeanor, and the tendency to live much longer than most other similar creatures? You can see where I'm going with this.
Imagine if in all high fantasy, every elf was replaced by a sentient feral gorilla instead. No one mentions it, no one is any less attracted to them because they're gorillas, and they're still treated like the same peaceful tall vegan humanoids that live in the forest.
And now it's canon.
Quickstats & Design Notes
- Lan is the leader of the Orshi, a local tribe of true elves or Bora
- Most Bora have a hard time speaking. While Lan can speak, he has a hard time with it as well and resorts to his people's sign language
- His tribe doesn't work with diplomats, opting to give that task to its leaders. Lan is a diplomat both for other Bora clans and for any of the surrounding peoples not a part of their species
- Lan's diplomatic mission is always to attain peace and separation between the Orshi and their neighbours. Times have been hard with their forests being reduced in size through forestry
- Even with this threat, Lan does not wish for war
- As a leader, Lan is a pragmatic Bora, always looking at how the proposed plans can be executed
