Adriel

Adriel is a seemingly shy and sweet boy, but has several problems stemming from a rough family past and is emotionally unstable.  He is the only character able to see Lucy, seemingly having a supernatural connection to him.

Appearance

Adriel is a natural brunette, but due to a craze amongst young people at the time, he dyed his hair pink to match his eyes.  He is shorter and more slender than most people, but is taller than Lucy.  He generally wears a peach coloured top with white trousers and brown boots.  He wears a peach collar with a green gemstone set in the middle.

Personality

Adriel generally appears to be shy and timid, but in reality he suffers from a deep fear of social situations.  He finds it extremely hard to talk to people, even those he is close to.  This makes his speech suffer greatly and no amount of private tuition seems to help.  This further causes rifts between him and his parents, who he already has a strained relationship with.  He has very few friends and finds himself disliked by people his own age, who see him as aloof and cold.  This situation was made worse unintentionally by Lucy, who Adriel began to speak to when he was alone.  Other children believed he was talking to himself and he was subjected to even more bullying.  Eventually, Adriel totally closed himself off from other people and considered Lucy his only friend until he got to know Verrier and Avaritia.

Adriel is very caring underneath his quiet exterior.  He constantly worries after people he is close to, longing to reach out to them but unable to.  This inability to express himself frustrates him, leading to fluster, panic and anxiety. He also has a crippling fear of disappointing those he loves. One advantage of his quietness is that he is able to take it a lot of information, though only when not distressed.  There are times he overthinks what he's heard and spirals further into depression over it.  He can be slightly pessimistic, often believing the worst of people and situations.

Despite his poor social skills and fear of public speaking, Adriel is highly intelligent.  He likes writing and books, and can often be found with at least one tome on his person.

• He is a bookworm, and his favourite genre is fantasy books about knights and wizards.
• His favourite treat is peaches and cream, though he is also partial to anything with strawberries in it.
• He has a knight doll, christened Fabio by himself and Kaleb.  He refuses to throw it away.
• He dislikes the smell of cigarettes and alcohol.
• Due to the presence of Lucy, he cannot have any animals but would love to have a kitten.
