Varus is a Sylvan Deity, the protective spirit of the eastern forest and the future leader of his tribe. His true form is a large dire wolf.
Albeit his impending leadership, he's still very inexperienced when it comes to responsibilities. His irascible and hot-headed nature get's the better of him more often than not.

The two of them are technically territorial rivals, but Meurvis doesn't really care about it all that much. Yet, he accepts (and wins) every challenge Varus utters. Most times, a short fight to humor him is a lot less troublesome for Meurvis than having to deal with Varus' derision.
