In this world, there are demons and angels, where humans are fundamentally bad rather than neutral or good. Most angels aren’t as nice as they might seem, and demons that are caught trying to be good are severely punished, though not with anything as merciful as death.

Dariel is one of those angels who everyone gets exasperated trying to be patient with. His temper flares so quickly and so randomly that it’s impossible to tell what will set him off next. He’s very quick to hold a grudge, and although he would never act on it, he makes his disdain for others who have made him angry (on purpose or not) quite obvious to the person in question. He’s not patient or forgiving, and is quick to blame anyone he could see be even partly responsible, even if that problem was caused by his own actions.

He doesn’t have many friends, besides maybe the laziest angel in the world, but that’s likely because they’re the only one that doesn’t really care about the bs he spouts out on a daily basis and the only one who won’t really react to his screams and degrading statements. Despite his treatment of most everyone else, Dariel is very quick to defend and show his loyalty to God, even if She’s decided to stay on Earth for a while. Dariel knows She’s always listening, and does his best to stay on Her good side. Whenever one of the other angels dishonors or complains about the lack of help God brings, Dariel will instantly get into an argument with them about Her accomplishments, citing actually legitimate points (rather than excuses and pushing the blame, like when other angels confront Dariel about his own problems).

Alongside his lazy “friend”, Dariel is connected with five other angels that also—despite encouraging virtues—act completely against what their nature and society tells them to be or what they can do. Once all seven angels meet together, their demonic counterparts (of whom some of the seven will have already encountered) will do the same, and when the idea of balance becomes a complete mess, a great battle between the worlds above and below will commence, greater than anything the young Earth has seen before. And no one is ever quite sure who is on which side...
