Profile
Born to and trapped within a cult as a child, Romeo was hailed as the prophet of the Order's dark goddess while being used, abused, and treated as inhuman. Romeo escaped in their teens after discovering the goddess didn't give a shit about them beyond as a tool for a prophecy, and has been on the run since. They had no practical skills to speak of and turned to a life of crime to make a living (and to excise their anger).
Romeo is a cat burglar and art thief and works on contract for rogue's guilds. They move from town to town fairly frequently and keep their shapeshifting under tight control to avoid attracting any attention, lest it alert the Order to their whereabouts. They suffer in silence, with no connections and keeping their true self under lock and key.
Romeo runs into Aggie very literally, nearly dropping on top of him during a job. They drag him along so he can't be a witness, and he is forced to cooperate lest he be arrested as complicit. While they finish up the job together, Romeo inadvertently discovers that Aggie's life story hits many of the same points as their own that fit into the cult goddess's prophecy. Suddenly seeing a ray of hope of wrecking the Order's ambitions, they try to maneuver Aggie into place to subvert the Order's expectations of how things will play out - though Aggie has other ideas. The two slowly shift from uneasy distaste for each other to emotionally open friends as they find out they have what the other lacks.
Romeo has had a very twisted worldview for a long time and is still struggling to recover. They are cynical and cagey and refuse to believe in selflessness. They push people away and can be very controlling, trusting nobody to do the job right but themself. That said, under the hood they're damaged, unloved, and desperate for even the tiniest bit of support, approval, or acceptance.

> Romeo is able to shapeshift on a sliding scale - essentially, their form is not absolute. They can look elven, they can look like a terrific monster angel, and they can choose a look anywhere in-between. Naturally, they would have looked mostly elven with the ability to shift into a freaky angel, but long-time emotional training that they should look like a freaky angel all the time as a child has led them to be most comfortable in a more angelic form.

Romeo is a bitter, aggressive little spitfire. They aren't quite openly hostile, but only because they prefer to be left alone. They demand respect with their body language as best they can despite their size and can actually be fairly intimidating.
