please read the roleplay carrd, in the "link" section! it has information on character creation, the rules, current events in roleplay, and other useful imformation!

In summary, Missing is a Semi Lit to Lit long term medieval fantasy Roleplay. We encourage creativity, allowing our members to create and add to our world, and host roleplay-wide events. Most character species are allowed, including feral, anthro/furry, and human.

Missing started about 6 years ago on the dragon roleplay amino. Over time as the amino became more inactive, we moved to discord. We made the move in platforms around october 2020, and have been there since! We’ve had reboots, different rosters of characters, stories, and drama. Discord works much better for us, though sadly it makes it more difficult to recruit new roleplayers. Thats where you come in!

About Our World
  • The time period is late medieval- grime included!( Tonally, the roleplay is closer to The Witcher)
  • humans are the predominant species in Orthos ( the kingdom in which the roleplay mostly takes place )
  • This does not mean you aren't allowed ocs of other species, and there are other kingdoms within the roleplay where this is not the case.
  • magic is seen as rare in universe.
  • There are (real life) monthly timeskips. These timeskips are usually only about 2-3 moths long in universe. Their purpose is to keep time and plots moving, and keep the whole server on roughly the same time frame to avoid confusion
  • Every few (real life) years, there is a soft reboot. This is to prevent the roleplay from growing stale, and too difficult for new people to join since characters may be too ingraned in their own plots to allow new ocs to join. These soft reboots are voted on
rules
  • Smut must be kept to DMs
  • In order to avoid power creep, admins are allowed to request you modify your ocs if they are too powerful (Gods, high rank demons etc)
  • your oc / world lore cannot prevent another's (eg. your oc cannot be the last of a common species, the king/queen of a common species)
  • You must ask before maiming / killing another's oc
  • While roleplay can be an escape / comfort to some poeple, please avoid trauma dumping in-character

Announcement
  • Longer 1 year timeskip coming up!
  • "suggestions" chat openning soon

FAQs
  • Though we do not vet for age since it is impossible to, short of just asking someone and hoping they don't lie, the average roleplayer in the server is 18+
  • the server has a way to easily find roleplay parteners with the @roleplay request discord role, which members can ping. the role is entirely voluntary, and requires members to opt in to have it
  • you will have direct help from mods in getting started in the roleplay. If you are having trouble getting started, we will help you pick out your ocs, get them involved in a plot, and help you get up to date with current events to ensure a smooth start

So sorry for not seeing this sooner 😭

Everyone is roughly 18ish, give or take a few years. I don’t think anyone in the server is under 15 years old. This does mean that sometimes people disappear for a few days / aren’t as available seeing as we have responsibilities outside of rp, but it’s a good trade off for the maturity that comes with having older people: People are generally on good terms, but as with most things some people tend to gravitate towards each other more. We do a small reboot about every 2-2 and a half years and we just had another reboot a few days ago, so so far everyone’s ocs are sort of ‘equally familiar’ with each other, but as we progress further into the story people tend to come up with their own stories and plots, and ‘groups’ sort of form.

As for the rp related stuff!
yes yes and yes! There’s a ‘chat request tag’ where you can @ me and request special chats to be made for you, and people often come up with their own events that everyone participates in. You just tell me about it, and I add it to the events chat! People are allowed their own lore, even powerful empires ^^ in fact, ‘Ukrovia’ in the ‘other nations’ part of the carrd wasn’t made by me. It was made by someone in the discord, and greatly impacts the lore, just for one example. The map on the carrd is meant to be the whole world. It’s small, but I figured that would just be better as a lot of characters are ‘region related’ (like a sand dragon, sea dragon etc) and having a shorter distance for people to get across to get to those places would make it easier for people’s ocs to interact. The technology in different kingdoms varies wildly. Sole kingdoms are more geared towards technology, some are more geared towards magic, and some are just barely surviving. Again for example, Ukrovia is far above any other nation when it comes to sea-faring vehicles.

so far it only has one moon, but if ya need two then it’s two! We have aliens, too. Sorry if the initial discord gave you a bad impression. We’d be happy to add you and your ocs to the story!

Hello! I think I have seen this server before, I am interested! Though I have a few questions about the server.

I am a semi-experienced roleplayer, with about 1.5 years of primarily casual roleplaying under my belt in a private roleplay server with some friends.

Here are some of the questions I have:

  1. How does this server handle character death? Can characters die by anything and they are permakilled, or do you have a specific system for it?
  2. What specific entry requirements are there? I feel quite intimidated by a guaranteed paragraph every time, as I usually roleplay by one liners to paragraphs, and sometimes keeping up is hard.
  3. What is the server size? How many active members are there?
  4. Following up by 2, is there any specific procedure to submit characters, I remember trying to join a server, but getting intimidated by a google doc requirement and I decided to just lurk there instead.
  5. I want to ask, is there a specific general expectation/limit on powerful characters? Such as a strong wizard, and such, and if so then what would you say is generally the max, as I am aware some servers allow and encourage players to make god-like beings while others are just normal people. God I sound like so much like a powergamer.
  6. What is the technology like? I am getting fantasy vibes, but is there possibility for sci-fi/modern themes as well?
  7. If we do work something out and I do end up joining, is it possible for a discussion directly with a mod/GM to work out a way to create/insert an OC into the world? I prefer talking to someone who knows the world to allow better integration and guidance on certain things.
  8. Are there any activity requirements? And if so what are they? Considering my life is quite busy currently with college and all, I don’t want an extra strain of attempting to hold up a strict activity requirement.
  9. Are the players/GMs alright if I were to bring more unique and outlandish ideas for a fantasy campaign to the table? I prefer to play characters with unique abilities and quirks to them that make them interesting for me, running around as an average joe doesn’t really appeal to me, either that be by origin, or an item/ability they have.
A good example of this would be a dimension traveller that travelled from another universe for reasons.
  10. Also, I want to enquire, is there a specific procedure that occurs if a player wants to start a large scale/worldwide event? This also occurs for villains as well.
  11. I also want to enquire about the mentioned reboots, is this a full character wipe? Or does something happen, please do explain!
Thank you for reading! My apologies for the large amount of questions, I want to make sure I know everything I need to decide properly! I am looking forward to hearing back from you soon!
Many thanks, Erron.

dont worry about the questions ! its my job to answer them ^^

1. id say the server handles death well. you can kill your own ocs, kill other ocs, have your ocs killed by others (with permission, of course). in fact, i recently had one of my own ocs assassinated. death is cool narratively! makes more drama 2. no real entry requirements. there are rules concerning rp that you must follow once youve joined, but so long as your oc isnt overpowered, youre fine 3. theres 33 members right now, though i cant really say how many are active, since it tends to fluctuate. a good portion of the people in the server are over 18, have jobs, responsibilities, etc- basically, things that take priority over roleplaying. we're trying to keep it smaller since i think having a smaller server allows for a tighter knit community. you get to know each other, each other's characters, and finding rp partners doesnt feel like youre talking to random people every time, relationships can form, and story progresses. 4. same answer as 2 5. yes there is. we dont have a ban on things like magic, etc, but there is a cap on power. this is because having more powerful ocs usually means having to create even MORE powerful villains, raising the stakes, which leads to power creep, and quickly removes any of the drama and challenge. also, helps stop your ocs from seeming incompetent! for example; if the problem is that there is a dragon terrorising the town, and for some reason your oc, which you have said is an ultra powerful wizard cant defeat it for plot reason, makes your guy seem like hes *not* actually as powerful as you say he is... and not to mention the fact it takes away the fun for evryone else. once youre in the rp, i tend to look at every oc individually to make sure they arent too overpowered 6. sure. just be able to justify it some way. maybe your cellphone fell through a wormhole or something. i dont know 7. eeyup. thats me. i like to talk to every person individually. a lot of people like to just add their ocs without a lot of consideration to the plot (which is also fine), but i actually think it makes for more interesting rp when the character fits into the world ^^ 8. nope. busy people busy lives 9. yup thats fine 10. not really an official procedure. you just send me a dm and we work it out together to make sure everything checks out (doesnt conflict past lore / other's oc lore, would actually include and be fun for other people, isnt worldbreaking etc) 11. basically, the world continues, but theres a massive timeskip! usually this means a chara wipe but we've had ocs before that have survived them through various means (species lives a long time, hybernation, reincarnation)
