About

Maugrim is the younger sibling of Sabathiel. When the young faun met Reizoh, the corrupted whitetail pushed Maugrim to believe that Herne had abandoned him. When the effects of corruption began to appear, Reizoh promised that Fenris would help him. Though he did follow along for a while, Maugrim began to become aware of his actions, and his furthering corruption. By the time he had begun to realize Fenris wasn't the divine savior he claimed to be, Sabath had finally tracked him down. His brother refused to accept his brother's fate, and with the seeds of doubt already growing within Maugrim, Sabathiel was eventually able to restore his faith in Herne, and reverse the corruption within him, though he still would remain isolated from the majority of other faunids, often being called a monster, and shown nothing but mistrust from others.

Maugrim claims that he doesn't care too much about his forced isolation, hiding behind an indifferent and snarky persona. Truthfully, he is conflicted. Maugrim quietly yearns for companionship and community again, though he is just as fearful of himself as the others. Having only recently come back from corruption, Maugrim frequently struggles with holding back his impulsive actions and past urges. He has had the occasional outburst when angered, which often results in having to be calmed down by Sabathiel. At times he can't look at his brother directly, feeling guilty for causing him to go blind in one eye, and heavily scarring his face. Despite this, Sabath has never once blamed him for his actions. Because of this, Maugrim is often too afraid to be around faunids besides his brother, though he will often observe the fauns of the nearby villages from a distance. If he finds himself comfortable around another, Maugrim is loud and easily excitable, as well as super energetic.

Trivia/Artist Notes

• Maugrim is currently the only known faunid to have reversed his corruption outside of Nakir.
• His antlers are very asymmetrical, with his right being broken on the main beam, and his left having several more tines.
• Maugrim is heavily scarred under his clothing.
• He has the personality of a hyper puppy when he is around someone he trusts fully.
• His pauldron is the skull of a deer. Don't ask who.
• Maugrim has been known to occasionally eat small animals, an old habit from his corruption days.
