When Patience was a teenager, her home village was stricken with famine and it ended up killing her parents. After that, the rouges in the area took advantage of the already weak village and raided it, killing many of its inhabitants. Patience took her younger brother Kibou, whose back leg was cut off during the raid, and left the village to find a safer place to live. However, that would prove to be very difficult as the rest of the continent was just as uninhabitable as their village. During their travels, they came across a warrior named Ryota that joined them. Patience fell in love with him and they soon married. They eventually found a safe place to live in the mountains of northern Aisling where there were very few attacks from loners and rogues. After the 3 settled there, Ryota left for a job to help out villages in eastern Aisling, before Patience was able to tell him that she was pregnant. In the coming months after Ryota left, a fierce winter-storm broke out causing Patience and Kibou to retreat further into the mountains, where resources and food were limited. The two both became weak, which worried Kibou as he feared his sister wouldn't have enough strength to deliver her kitten. He decided to set off to find food one morning without telling Patience, but he didn't come back for weeks. She was left to fend for herself and deliver her kitten all by herself while being stricken with worry about her missing brother and absent husband. Kibou eventually came back, however, he was much different than before which caused concern in Patience, mostly pertaining to Kibou's previously missing back leg which had miraculously come back. However, she put aside that worry as she was thankful he was still alive. She named her kitten Envy, and she and Kibou raised the kitten as best they could. However, things started to change with Kibou, because, unbeknownst to her, he had just found a way to harvest the magic in the last which would change the course of history, forever.
