Riku Kenzo

Riku is 5'7" with a slender build. He has pink fluffy hair and brown eyes. He seems to take good care of himself and always smells like roses. He never fully buttons his shirt and rolls the long sleeves up to just below his elbows.

Riku is cunning and intellectual, but also very sly and sassy. He likes to cause trouble, but only in a way that also helps the class catch the culprit. His mindset is to "Always be two steps ahead of your opponent." He constantly refers to himself as a pawn, referring to the chess piece, and claims that he is going to uncover the truths of the Killing Game to the best of his abilities.

Riku grew up with two sisters, one being Mayumi Kenzo who is also a participant in the mutual killing game. Growing up, his older sister had a lot of medical issues, so he decided to compete in Chess tournaments to bring in some extra money as he was always very tactic in his thinking. He ended up making a lot of money and became a master by the age of 10. He would love to watch old murder mystery shows and play games with his father when he was young, he says that they helped him with his analytical skills. Riku was constantly bullied by his classmates growing up for being the smart kid. Mayumi would usually have to pull him out of trouble. When things turned for the worst for his okder sister, he had to take a lot of time off from school to help raise money for her treatment, and ended uo having ro repeat a year in school, putting him in the same class as Mayumi.

Riku is a Chess prodigy. Grandmaster (GM) is a title awarded to chess players by the world chess organization FIDE. Apart from World Champion, Grandmaster is the highest title a chess player can attain. Riku was actually awarded the Title of World Champion, but Hopes Peak thought that "Grandmaster" would be a more recognizable title.
