Just a nerd who wears band-ids for the aesthetic.

  • An only child
  • Always kind of close to being too frustrated with tasks.
  • Quiet and polite with strangers, unless they're an asshole to them or someone nearby.
  • They're more loose with their wording and what they say when it gets late at night.
  • Carries a TV everywhere when they were 16~17. They also dyed the tips of their hair around these ages.
  • Used to wear glasses as a kid, changed to contacts. From 17 onwards they only wear matte glasses sometimes, and never contacts.
  • Lived with their grandma while the paperwork of their parents divorce was going on, but decided to stay longer with her afterwards and their parent moved in.

World ; Glooms and Enclosing Systems

June's town, where they've lived until they were 18, is small and next to the sea, a place that only has one or two train outings a day.

Reencarnation is a big belief that influences people of the area, often telling the young they should be kind to everyone, because the soul they're talking to could have been an important person in one of their past lives. This belief also helps explain the phenomenom of small shadows, called glooms, living alongside humanity as far past as any story has told. These being explained as the impurities and conflicted emotions of the previous life leaving the soul as it prepares to embody a new creature.

Small Glooms are usually not dangerous, but they do need to absorb energy to keep themselves running, as some vestige of a survival instinct. This can cause fatigue, sickness or even power outages if too many gather in a small area. However, in moderation, they help people fall asleep and keep some more of the radiation of the Sun away, in a kind of mutualism relationship.
Unfortunately, there aren't only small glooms around. Non-ghost type glooms can cause serious, physical harm. Being usually the size of a grown human, if left unchecked can destroy buildings and kill people.

Alongside their own technology, humanity has been developing their own Systems of defense against this last type of gloom, or to control the populations of small ones. Currently, they can be found as modified everyday objects, that have at least one shiny surface and buttons to help tune in with the Gloom and capture it. Some examples of Enclosing Systems are pocket watches, smartphones or cameras.

These Enclosing Systems keep the glooms contained and away from making trouble, and with some time and conversation, they can calm down and fade, sometimes leaving black triangles behind.

Make sure to read World first if you don't understand some concepts

Growing up in such a small town, June used to spend a lot of time with their grandmother as a child. She is the one who transmitted to them their passion for capturing glooms, and she showed them how to use old Enclosing Systems, later in life gifting them her old TV Enclosing System. Because of this it is a very important piece of their life.

Having catching small glooms as a main hobby, which is something that is considered childish, has made them an easy target for some of the assholes in their class. However it's not unusual for them to fight back and have gotten several reprimands for "starting" fights.
For reasons like these, they often get along better with adults than with people their age. They stopped caring that much about it since they found out May and them had similar interests.

They're used to do small tasks for shopkeepers and other people from the town, who ask them to capture small glooms who may be causing a ruckus in exchange of a few coins. Until one day when they were 17 years old, in which they got tricked by some traveler, and found themselves face to face with a Non-ghost type gloom, which they could do nothing against.
With some big amount of luck, April heard them and came to help. She enclosed the gloom and exposed her secret skill, but was able to save them. However it wasn't soon enough, finding June wounded, their TV Enclosing System broken, with the glooms that were inside transferred to the reflection in their eyes.

While waiting both for their wounds to heal and the glooms they have now inside their eyes to fade, a government agency which is in charge of managing the number of glooms to keep the cities livable kept contacting them. June turned them away, but giving the option that they would contact back after all settled down.
With the low morale June suddenly found themselves in, they decided to drop out of the last year of high school and go work for the agency in one of the cities nearby.

Assuming the job of a capturer, who would catch glooms and then hand over the Enclosing Systems to clearers, who would keep an eye over them until they fade. Here they get their uniform similar to silver foil, so that if an emergency were to occur, the attention would be kept on them.
