Ace

Now Ace was really very excited for this. Usually Altair's crazy experiments turned out to be absolutely brilliant, but this was even better than that. It was brilliance incarnate. Okay, so maybe that was mostly because she was going to get to blow some stuff up, but hey! That counted as a reason for liking something!

(At least she certainly hoped it did)

Ace decided she wasn't going to ponder over such confusing things just then, which was good because at that moment the scientist himself, Altair, strode in with an exuberant grin. "It's all set up if you want to check it out?" he said.

"You bet I do!" Ace exclaimed. "What are we trying to find out again, Professor?"

Hesitation. A sheepish grin. "...Er... I don't know, quite yet, but hey! I'll figure something out, I'm sure, and you'll get to try out your newest explosive!"

"Ace!" said Ace, with a jump into the air. "Let's do this!"

It ended in total disaster (just like the last 10 times), with Ace's fur smoking and Altair grinning like a madman. Really, though? It was all just business as usual.
