The late deputy of shadowclan who'd died saving her apprentice from a badger. Softstep is an extremely sweet and caring cat. She puts others before her and always makes sure everyone is comfortable before anything else. Although small in stature she skilled in hunting and negotiating with others. She is completely deaf and communicated to others mainly though body language. Was a childhood friend of Ratstar, and they grew to love each other deeply. She now frequently visits Ratstar in her dreams to give her advice (against her clanmates' wishes). Of course this is very much an open secret among the clan.
