N is an Unown-N originally hailing from the distortion realm of a ruined timeline (@theforgottenmimikyu). N became close friends with Nick following an ask, in which Nick agreed to be a friend to the Unown of said realm. Nick was gifted with countless Custap berries and one Unown decided to stay behind, imprinting, and hiding in Nick’s tail for the purpose of Nick to use for quick escape portals. As such, this means Nick is capable of fast travel. And this is exactly how Nick sees N as: a friend, as opposed to a pet.

However, N's personality goes deeper than what would be his original intent. N used to be a snarky asshole, much like the Unown it once lived with, likely due to an animosity between them and the Mimikyu who owned the realm. This often lead to taunting formations of spelled words in the skies above. Nick's attitude toward N changed this. Or more specifically, his positive attitude. Nick's friendly demeanor allowed N to slowly become more open about his feelings, and eventually N became very open-minded and talkative.

It has been recently revealed that it's inability to speak modern era pokespeak is fear based. Unown is currently forcing themself to break this fear by applying the knowledge they picked up from the literature they read to overcome. As of some time around the third week of August 15th, N can now speak, although the accent is there, but not as bad as they seem to think. He is understandable, although his dialogue is in all capital letters (with lowercase being replaced by small capitals)
