Adalard Meyer

Adalard was born as the first aasimar in the Meyer family in many years, the family guardian Ezekias quickly latching on to lead him to greatness. Although he had his older sister, Anara, always by his side, pressure from both his parents and a celestial to keep on what they considered "the right path" led to him growing up sullen and rebellious. In his late teens, he left his home forever to join the then steadily growing Hand of Tiamat and start to rise through its ranks. His years in the cult involved him committing atrocities with little regard for anyone else involved; burning and pillaging villages, cutting down anyone in his way, all in the name of Tiamat. It was only after his guardian left him and the Harpers began to push back against the cult did he start to question the group - what Tiamat could possibly have in store for her non-draconian worshippers after she rose, why the cult seemed to target down-on-their-luck young people to recruit, whether the agents of the Harpers would be coming after his head next... He left the cult in his 30's, managing to fade into obscurity while people dealt with the calamity that was Tiamat's brief summoning.

With nowhere to go and no guardian to lead him, Adalard drifted for the next several years in search of purpose. A change of faith seemed easiest, and Adalard was eventually accepted into the Church of Selune, studying to be a cleric. Later he reconnected with his sister, and finding out that she was raising the next aasimar in their line, Rasamira, he asked to stay and help raise her. He believes that Rasamira was key in making sure he stayed on an actually good path - he wanted to make sure she never experienced another disaster like Tiamat's uprising. As the years passed, he eventually mellowed out, fully becoming into a pacifist cleric of Selune as he travelled around with Rasamira, now also a Selunite.

Now in his 60's, he's currently travelling through the northern Sword Coast and Icewind Dale in an effort to bring equality to the giants' ordning. With a new group of companions who now know his past at his side, Adalard hopes to finally truly be able to move past it - even if that means picking up an axe again.
