- Technically his job is a punishment, but it became apparent to his god that he preferred it, so his god just left him to it.
Cheris is known to be fairly grumpy and aggressive demon. For good reason too, he is mainly like this towards angels, provided Nick was his only experience with one before his lover Fay. He also holds issues with trusting others due to the event with Nick.
Upon getting closer to him, he becomes more patient with you, and more prone to tolerating whatever you do. He also will talk to you more, and may tell you more about himself.
Cheris was a demon given the opportunity to help in the war, while this wasn't true for most, he declined, having other business to do. Mainly what Cheris had done was study more, mainly about humans. He had spent most his time in the human world, which isn't normal, but they were so interesting he couldn't help it. At some point, he accidentally fell in love with a human, which wasn't allowed at the time. This ended up having his god punish him, but this punishment hadn't started yet.
When he returned, he met Nicholas, who quickly became a friend of his. Nick started to fall in love with Cheris, but these feelings were not returned as Cheris was still not over breaking up with his ex. Although the two were no longer friends after Nick killed his older brother.
This resulted in him asking his god if he could start his punishment, which was taking care of a forest of a cherry blossom trees on earth. It wasn't that bad, so it wasn't necessarily a punishment, he enjoyed the peace and quiet.
This, of course, changed when Fay came along, a angel banished from heaven and was cursed. Fay obviously bothered Cheris, but in a friendly way, trying to become friends. After many attempts on different days, Cheris finally gave in, of course though. The two became lovers fairly quickly, but it ended well, with Fay having to come by at least each day to see Cheris.
Cheris was a good friend of Nick, but after witnessing his brother be killed by who he trusted, then everything changed. Despite Nick caring for him, he absolutely hates the angel.
Pitaya and Cheris are siblings. Cheris looks up to his brother very much so, and misses him. Is Pitaya really dead though?
Fay is Cheris' lover, he met them on any other day of taking care of the cherry blossoms. Fay obviously kept pushing on, being a angel, who had been cursed and well... saw demons differently. After them actually falling in love, they got together, with Fay always coming to see Cheris every day.
