ABOUT
Mungo prefers to stay in the background, and uninvolved in any drama or action. He feels safer that way. He hates being the center of attention - or being interrupted when reading. Accordingly, in his free time he avoids places his peers often go, and instead seeks out small quiet parks, unpopular bookshop, or the local aquarium where everyone is too busy staring at someone else to pay him any attention, and where he has an annual pass to. His favourite in the aquarium is the pike - it's not exactly the main attraction, so its tank is rather peaceful. Mungo often is found sitting by it and reading.
DESIGN
  • His left eye is sectionally heterochromatic, with a brown section in the otherwise green iris
STORY
With four children, his family isn't on the wealthy side, but they get by okay. He's trying hard to get good grades so he can get a scholarship when he goes to university. He's rather smart, though he questions himself all the time.
Much to his dismay, his life is turned upside down when he finds an extraordinary book in one of his favourite second-hand bookshops. Apparently it hasn't been opened for decades... and for good reason. While the Strange Girl from his class starts to tail him and the pike to give him sage advice, strange appearances start to pop up in and around his home, and soon enough a fishy taskforce comes into play, demanding the book for themselves.
For once in his life, Mungo is forced to take action. Bringing the book to the aquarium, which, as it happens, is situated in a refurbished old mansion, might however not have been the best thing that could have been done.
