Design Notes (Human Form)

• She wears red lipstick and eyeshadow.
• She almost always wears her sunglasses over her eyes.
• Her hat is longer and pointed at the tip (similar to a typical witch's hat), rather than being rounded.
• She has sharp teeth and fangs on the upper jaw here her canines are. Posesses a deadly, venomous bite even in her human form.
• She has golden threads resembling spider webs sewn decoratively across her outfit. Placement does not need to be replicated exactly.
• She has eight purple tips that turn upward at the bottom of her dress.

• Roughly 5'6" in her human form.
• Her true form is more dragon-like in appearance, varying drastically from a usual Arukenimon.
• Can still shoot spider webs from her fingers in her human form.

Trivia

• She enjoys mending weapons, clothing, and other materials. She can weave powerful spells using her hair and spider threads, though the stronger the magic, the more time and energy it takes out of her to make it.
• Though she is an Ultimate level, she's still quite young and naive, and has much to learn about battling. Lady of course takes it upon herself to train her, and believes in Ara's potential to become a leader herself one day. She also thinks Ara's more outgoing nature is a great sibling sort of match to Neo and El, who both tend to be more reserved and overly cautious.
• She stays primarily in her "human" disguise form, but will shift to her true form in order to battle.
• She frequently helps out in Lady's labs and assists her research about the human and Digital worlds.
• Because of her species' ability to take on a very convincing human form, Lady will often send her in her place to go to the human world if she feels Ara might be better suited for the task.
• Will always consider Oti her "little brother," regardless of the fact that he's now much taller than her. He will still "hide" behind her frequently in spite of their height difference.

Origin

Ara's Digiegg hatched in the same area Lady had grown up in, a place virtually uninhabitable and inhospitable. In her baby form, she could do little but try to hide from the many dangers surrounding her, eventually stumbling across another Digiegg, which would hatch soon after she found it. The both of them, terrified and vulnerable, stuck together, with Ara taking care of the younger Digimon much like a little brother. However, due to their inexperience and helplessness, were easily picked on by other Digimon, who to deal with the scarcity of resources had to resort to fighting, raiding, and killing others in order to survive. It was by some miracle they managed to scrape by, growing into their In-Training forms.

Taking the role of sort of a "big sister," Ara saw it as her responsibility to look out for the other Digimon, Oti, who was even more timid than she was. Lady happened upon them while patrolling her territory, and was touched by Ara's ("pathetic, but sincere") efforts to try to protect her brother, or die trying, and took them into her unit.

Ara and Oti were put to work first helping to manage stock counts of resources Lady's party of Nightmare Soldiers could gather. Ara quickly took on tasks of making and reparing supplies and weaponry for the group as well, teaching herself how to weave magic into the materials to strengthen them. Though they started virtually at the bottom of the hierarchy, the group provided them with much-needed protection, and they were never picked on when Lady was around. Early on, Ara caught onto the structure of the unit that Lady had put in order, with every member at every level having a role that helped to keep the group going. But Lady's more unorthodox methods were at odds with the other Nightmare Soldier units, and they devised a means to try to "get rid" of her, by sending her group on an exploration quest far away from their territories.

Ara was terrified that something would happen to Oti. But even along their travels, Lady set up protection mechanisms to try to keep the weaker Digimon, and their cargo, safe. In addition to cataloguing and keeping records of their materials, Ara and Oti were also quickly swept up into regimented training courses, operated by some of the Champion level Digimon of the group, whenever they could squeeze it in. It was during one such session that they evolved into their Rookie stages. The further they traveled from their homelands, however, the more anxious Ara became.

Past

One night, the defensive lines didn't hold. During a large-scale raid, enemies broke through and descended on the Rookie and In-Training Digimon. Though most of the higher level warriors were content to cut their losses and sacrifice the weaker, Lady ordered them to double back and attempt a rescue. Ara and Oti were caught in the crossfire, and unable to protect themselves. Again, she stepped up to shield her little brother, who had become petrified with fear, and when all seemed lost, Lady took the hit that would have surely destroyed them.

Mortified, Ara could do nothing as general panic swept over the unit after their leader went down. The strongest of the lot decided then and there to retreat, abandoning her and the mission they'd been given. But without resistance, Ara and Oti followed them back.

Ever since, Ara has been deeply ashamed that she went with the group and abandoned Lady. She resolved to become stronger to try to reckon with herself, shedding the timid shell and trying to make herself into the protector that Oti deserved, and that she saw Lady had been. When she evolved to her Champion level, she tried to resist being moved to the fighting arm of the unit, wanting to stay as close to her brother as she could. But in the power-vacuum, the warring commanders would have none of it, and threw their attention to brute force, and trying to oust and destroy one another. Without Lady's influence and leadership, the group descended quickly to using intimidation tactics, mindless pillaging, and in-fighting.

Like Ara, there were others in the group who were dissatisfied with this, and who also regretted abandoning Lady. She began to speak with them, while the others fought amongst one another, and they began to draw up plans for their own way of ordering things. In the meantime, Ara focused on becoming more powerful, not to subdue, but to protect.

She was one of the few to reach her Ultimate stage. And it was then she decided, with the dissenters, to make their case to the rest. They were met with disdain and fled the unit for their safety, subsequently forming their own band of Digimon who promised to support one another. Their first order of business, which was Ara's goal, was to set out again into those foreign lands and try to find Lady.

And it was Ara who became the unofficial leader of the group, not because she declared the title for herself, but because the others respected her and her tactics. Thee others followed her wherever she went, and though their travels left them tired, and homesick, they found they were strongest because of their bonds they'd tied together.

When they did eventually reach Mt. Specter, the group was exhausted and jaded, but determined. They were swiftly met by some of Queenie's guards and taken into the valley gardens, where the Rosemon heard them out and realized they were looking for Lady. She escorted them up the mountain herself, and reunited them, at last with their old leader. Ara was prepared to beg for Lady's forgiveness in the matter, but more than anything else, Lady was just happy to see her and the others alive, and took them under her wing again. She felt Ara, however, deserved recognition as having become a leader herself, and having done what Lady had dreamed of, creating a family of Digimon in the dark lands who truly wanted to love and support one another.

Present

Now, Ara lives with Lady and Neo at the base. She happily mends things still with her spider silk, and creates and strengthens all sorts of materials, from book covers to weapons, with her magic. While Oti's characteristically taken more of a backseat to help Lady and Queenie with organizing their various data and other records, Ara does more face-to-face work. Her more outgoing personality and very convincing human form make her an excellent candidate to travel to the human world and study there, be it the inhabitants, or its connection to the Digital sphere.

She's also started to learn more about magic from Queenie, who after beginning to re-create her gardens and library can provide a vast amount of knowledge for all sorts of spells. In return, she volunteers to help out patrolling or sparring with the guards and weaving her magic into the Fae tools and enchanting them with newfound power. Both Queenie and Lady have answered her requests to train her own combat skills further, so that she can continue to protect others, especially Oti.

Though initially very suspicious of Oti's new boyfriend, she's since accepted Balthazar and been very grateful that he's managed to help Oti open up more to other Digimon, and can look out for him in her absence. She still considers it her duty to keep the more mischevious GranDracmon in check, as one of the few who is completley unintimidated by his dark power and influence, and who refuses to put up with his shenanigans.

Because she can accompany Neo into the human world or travel there on her own very discreetly, she has the most first-hand experience dealing with and observing people. She makes sure to pass on whatever data she collects to Lady, or the stories she hears to Queenie, usually with great enthusiasm. She also brings back ideas about new items to make (there have been more than one "Ugly Christmas Sweater" sorts of incidents) for her found-family, and more recently, much to everyone's dismay, confusing data that may very well be pointing to trouble up ahead.
