hana is one of a pair of cursed lovers. a long time ago, hana and her lover stian ran afoul of some powerful entity on the iris. as punishment, they were ripped from each other. hana was tied to the home they'd made on the golden isles (long before people settled it), unable to leave for long. the years passed, and yet she barely changed even when the world around them did. her mind became fuzzy, her memories warped

hana did not take to this well. she'd always been a woman of action, of solving problems. she had half a mind to get out there and start searching for stian herself - sitting and waiting had always been a personal hatred of hers. the curse forced her to stay within two miles of the house, and the further she got the worse she felt. so, left without anything to do, she started a garden. it was a small one at first, the kind that could feed her. over the years it grew and grew until it became a massive forest. much of it is outside of area of cultivation, but she still tends to what she can.

time is hard for hana. she knows that sometime "recently" people showed up and changed things. people who tend to avoid her, assuming she befell some horrible fate from the isles itself. this is partially true, even if her fate didn't come from the isles. she can blink, and years will pass. children she knew once are suddenly old. when did this happen? why?

somehow, she has friends. azalea and her kin, the pixies who flutter around the gardens, even yvette the zookeeper. they all make sure to come see her, even when hana forgets the arrangements they make and loses herself in waiting.

the curse will be lifted if stian ever makes it back. somehow, hana still has hope. she wants to hold stian again, wants to be able to leave her house and explore the new things on the isles, wants to be free. even if she can't solve the problem by herself, she wants it solved so, so much.
