Rigel is always striving to improve in all facets of life. She values the foundation of tradition but does not feel bound by it; if Rigel is taught to grow potatoes, she is determined to grow them bigger, and more efficiently. Her skill is recognized admirably by the other farmers of Jollycrown, and she is proud of her reputation. When not working, Rigel is often composing music on their fiddle and performing to anyone who drops by. Despite Rigel's deep roots in Jollycrown, she views the town's folklore as more frivolous than anything: a source of artistic inspiration, but nothing to believe in. While not one to impose her beliefs onto others, she is not afraid to strike up a conversation with anyone, and certainly not unwilling to tease when she feels she is in the right. Rigel dresses in men's clothing and enjoys being regarded as a man or a woman; she makes no attempt to correct anyone either way.

Rigel originally perceived Muriel as a rival, but he grew over time to admire the unique way she saw the world. Rigel reflected upon his dismissal of spirituality and involved himself in Muriel's life, learning willingly about fae and folklore. As they spent more time together, Rigel developed romantic feelings for Muriel, and now the two consider themselves partners. Rigel prefers to show their love for Muriel with grand gestures, composing ballads for her and insisting on elaborate, romantic dates. In Muriel's company, Rigel doesn't feel like he has to try so hard; it's okay to be pampered for just a little bit.
