Strict, narcissist, Arrogant, hides his close attachment to Hackmanite. While he tries to be stand-offish and aloof, he does care for the smaller gems after seeing the terrible treatment they go through. Passionate and fiery.
He used to be faithful to Yellow diamond until he met Grape Agate.

Was created to be an overseer. He would overlook kindergarten creations and gem extractions. Border Opal held no close attachments to any gem until he was sent to a small planet in the middle of one of the sections that were turning out overcooked gems and rejects. He was sent to maybe sort out the problem, but when he got there, Opal found out that the gems already there had finished digging out the Hackmanites, and were preparing to shatter the rejects. Among the Hackmanites was one who was small, with no arms and large, naive eyes.
He took pity on this Hackmanite and was preparing to smuggle her out or be shattered trying. When all of a sudden, Grape Agate stepped out and shot and bubbled the gems in charge. She had been sent to save the Hackmanites, and relocate them to Earth. She was prepared to shatter Opal, should he pose a threat, but he assured her he wouldn't be a problem. He was sent to Earth with everyone, and after a while, he and Hackmanite joined Grape agate as part of her crew.
