Else Brennadottir

Else is a half Asgardian and half Frost Giant who was raised on Asgard. Her Asgardian mother Brenna kept Else hidden away in their home until she’d mastered her illusion projection, afraid that she would be berated and attacked for her obviously mixed appearance.  

Relationships 

Loki Odinson/Laufeyson: The love of her life who she really wishes would stop dying. She met him before the events of Thor when she ran into him in the market. Literally ran into him. He was enchanted by her paintings and asked if she’d come to the palace with him and paint something for him (for a hefty payment, no less.) Who was Else to refuse the handsome prince? During Thor, she became Loki’s “royal advisor” and trusted friend. During the events of Thor: The Dark World they became estranged and then closer than ever. After Loki had revealed his second death to be a hoax (and had been properly chastised), Else confessed her love, to which Loki confessed his own in response. Near-death experiences will do wonders on garnering a profession of love. In Thor: Ragnarok, they’re together as King and... Secret Queen? No one is aware of their love, at first, since Loki is masquerading as Odin. That would be a bad look. Though, as soon as Loki is revealed, so too is their love. 

Thor Odinson: Else thinks of him as her big brother, by virtue of her relationship with Loki. He’s kind, funny, and they get along well. She loves to tease him, he he teases her back. They grew close in the time between Thor and The Avengers over their shared grief of Loki. She wishes she could have come with him to Earth to bring Loki home, but Odin could only muster up the strength to send during one of them, and of course he chose Thor. Their bond becomes nigh unbreakable after the events of Avengers: Infinity War when they once again share in their grief. 

Frigga: She’s like a second mother to her. When Loki died (the first time) they became nearly inseparable, and Frigga taught her most of the magic Else knows. Else was heartbroken over her death and misses her every day. 

Odin: Outwardly, she respects him, but inwardly, she resents him for the part he played in Loki’s trauma (and she’s kind of scared of him to boot). That resentment only doubled when she realized in Thor: Ragnarok what a hypocrite he was.
