Jiro's cousin, a member of the Sect and Aishi's coworker from a previous research gig. Bright, expressive, and cheerful, Shima's wild antics and energy hide a mercilessly aggresive personality in combat. Seems to be fond of her friends, and oddly enough, popular among other sect members despite actively disobeying Sect guidelines like not wearing her hood in public or guarding ability usage.
Backstory
Born to a branch family in the pretigious Shadowgraph Sect, Shima grew up with her life mostly handed to her by the Sect- her mother was a widely respected member known for her sharp wit and impressive ability field control, while her father was the brother of a democracy councilmember. Many eyes were on her in her youth as she also displayed her mother's traits as a kid, but after an incident in ability testing, Shima's branch fell out of favor for her cousin's family instead, and she herself was heavily injured and took a few months to recover physically.
Initally she held contempt towards her cousin for almost killing her, but gradually over the years let go of it as she came to terms that it wasn't his fault and witnessing the Sect members treat him like a weapon to be thrown around. After coming to terms with this, she stops wearing her sect hood around and ends up being the brunt of criticism from other members, though she doesn't seem to mind too much herself, and is bubbly enough to even stay on good terms even to those who call her out.
Later on, she decides to ditch the politics-heavy and ability-centric life within the Sect to explore other gigs, and winds up in a short co-op gig with Aishi doing datatech research. They become friends there- Shima's not too interested in datatech, but finds Yin and other marionette dataspirits charming. Shima happens to be the first sect member Aishi meets, and is mostly intrigued by both sect life despite having no desire to join (of which Shima's happy to rant about) and interested in building sect connections to get money for research purposes. They go on shopping trips frequently, though politics eventually call Shima back to the Sect and Aishi gets busy with research.
By the time spring (and a new investigation co-op) comes around, Shima's out again trying to find new gigs to work, having just ditched a coffee shop job after getting bored of making the same drink 4 different times. She heads back the the Sect HQ, where to her surprise, she runs into her cousin's entire co-op group (of which Aishi is among them). Taking no time to slack for intros, she rushes toward them, excited witness how people she's known interact with each other, and quickly grows a liking to Castella as well.
