Lyutik

Backstory

Lyutik was born in a big city, to a well-off family, with a mother, father and an older brother. Her father was a lawyer, and her mother was a book translator, who aspired to become a novel writer one day. Her brother, Taiyo, was still in school when she was born. Lyutik got most of her upbringing from her brother, as her father was constantly working and the mother was focused on her writing career. She only mothered her for the first few years, when it was absolutely necessary.

When she was around 4, Lyutik discovered that she has the same power as Taiyo – the ability to help plans grow better and faster. But unlike her brother, she was allowed to follow her dream and become a florist. While Taiyo was pressured to become successful, Lyutik’s childhood was free of such worries. She never understood why Taiyo and their parents didn’t seem to be on very good terms, but she was glad that he liked her and tried her best to show him how much she loved him.

Around that time, her father was suddenly arrested for committing countless financial frauds. The family suddenly lost most of their income. Lyutik didn’t really understand what was going on at the time, but she saw that since the arrest, Taiyo left school and started working, so she tried to help in any way she could and would often clean around the house and, sometimes, would try to cook dinner.

When Lyutik was 7 years old, Taiyo died in a hit-and-run accident on his way home from work one night. The morning after, her mother got a phone call that informed them about Taiyo’s death.

Her brother’s funeral was an eye-opening experience. Before that, she never really realized the financial situation she and her family were in – it didn’t set in before that her father was in jail and that Taiyo was the only one who made any kind of money, as their mother only released one successful book and hasn’t written anything or worked since then.

The family had some money saved from the book release, but that was not endless. The mother didn’t want to work again at all, so she decided to write another book instead. In the meantime, Lyutik went to the same flower shop that Taiyo worked at and begged the owner to hire her. The owner gave in and let her become a helper.

For the next 16 years Lyutik worked at the flower shop and was the one to earn money for the family. She ended up never going to school – all the basic knowledge she got from Taiyo and then later thanks to self-study. When she was 19, the owner retired and left the shop for Lyutik, and she became a new owner. To this day, she provides for her mother. The mother never got a job and this whole time she was living with her daughter’s money, justifying it with the need for free time to write her book. Lyutik still believes that her mother will eventually write the book, as she promised, and she only needs a little time.

She still takes care of Taiyo’s grave and provides fresh flowers once a month.

Personality

Lyutik is a very quiet person. She’s a little naïve and tends to not see the bigger picture, unless she’s forcefully faced with the situation. She’s also very kind and trusting – she tends to see the best in people and believe that anyone can change, if they wanted to. She doesn’t have any big ambition, she’s very much content with her small life as a flower shop owner. She tends to hold onto people she cares about and be there for them in any way she can, even if it means sacrificing her own comfort. Most of the time she does as she’s told and follows the rules. She gets very confused why anyone would want to disobey someone, unless there was a VERY explicit reason for that. She dreams of buying a small cottage one day and having a big garden.

Abilities

She only has the ability to help plants grow better and stronger. She uses that ability on her job. Although, one might argue that her charm is a special ability on its own – people seem to give into her very easily, even if they originally don’t like her very much.
