BACKSTORY

Taiyo was born in a big city, in a pretty well-off family. His father was a lawyer, and his mother was a book translator, who aspired to become a novel writer one day. The first five years Taiyo spent by his mother’s side, while his father was almost always at work. During that period of time, Taiyo discovered his ability to help plants grow better – plant life would grow almost in a flash whenever he wanted. His mother’s personality rubbed off on Taiyo – he was a very calm and imaginative child, always dreaming about magical adventures, although he also dreamed about grounded stuff too, like becoming a gardener when he grew up.

However, his father stepped in by the time Taiyo became six. He wanted his son to be successful and became a lawyer, not “some gardener”. He started spending more time with his son, introducing him to the job at a very early age and teaching him the basics. By the time Taiyo started school, he was way more academically smart than his peers.

However, Taiyo never really wanted to be a lawyer. He still wanted to work with plants. His mother stopped spending time with him, because the father took over the upbringing process, and now she had time to work on her first book. Taiyo ended up keeping his dream to himself, in hopes that one day, when he’s older, he’ll talk to his father about it and he’ll finally take him seriously.

When Taiyo was 15, his mother gave birth to a second child – a girl they named Lyutik. Just like with the first child, the mother took care of her daughter, while the father focused on his job and on making sure Taiyo was doing well at school. Taiyo didn’t have much time or energy to take care of Lyutik, but he did like her, despite the jealousy he felt for her getting all the attention from their mother.

When Lyutik was around 4, she discovered that she has the same powers as Taiyo. Just like her brother, she declared that she wants to become a florist. And, unlike with Taiyo, their parents were completely supportive of her dream. The now 18 years old Taiyo felt jealous and bitter that his sister was allowed to follow her dream, and he was not. He confronted his father about it, asking “what the hell?!” This time he got a more honest answer – Taiyo was born with the purpose to become successful, make a lot of money and help the family become wealthier. Lyutik wasn’t born with a purpose like that, so she could do whatever she wanted, as long as it was not damaging to the family’s reputation.

This revelation made Taiyo was very angry and he became even bitterer. Surprisingly, this bitterness wasn’t aimed at Lyutik, only at the father for using Taiyo for profit and at the mother, for being apathetic about her own children. The situation still changed Taiyo’s personality for worse; he became pretty cold and reserved, acting very snappy and aggressive whenever someone angered him even a little. The only person he had a good relationship with was his little sister.

When Taiyo was 19 and was done with school, he was seriously considering running away from home and starting a new life in a different city or town. He never ended up doing it though, because his father was suddenly arrested for committing countless financial frauds. The family suddenly lost most of their income.

Taiyo really wanted to gloat, but he still didn’t want to leave his sister with no support, financial or moral, so he ended up staying. Now that he didn’t have his father looming over him, he could finally become who he wanted, especially since they had enough money from the mother’s writing career. Plus, she couldn’t make him become a lawyer like his father could, as she had no authority over Taiyo.

Taiyo ended up being mostly the one to bring up Lyutik, as their mother was mostly incompetent when it came to being a good influence on the child. He started working in a small flower shop. He worked there for about three years, until he got killed in a hit-and-run accident on his way home.

Taiyo got reincarnated as a guardian angel because of how much he cared about Lyutik and the buried potential he had as a caretaker. Despite a pretty non-angelic personality, he was deemed qualified because of how much he cared for people he thought were actually good people.

He became a guardian of a girl named Amura. He was actually pretty good at his job, the only time Amura was in danger and Taiyo wasn’t able to react fast enough was when she was around 16 and the incident was created by another guardian angel.

As soon as Taiyo realized he had light bending abilities, he started spending all of his free time mastering and perfecting them as much as he could, just in case he ever needed to use them for whatever reason.

PERSONALITY

Taiyo is a pretty closed off character, his face is usually not very expressive, but he gets angry easily with people that annoy him even a little. Most of the time, it seems like he doesn’t care about much, besides his ward. And it’s partially true, he has that mentality that “only *ward’s name* matters, anyone else can fuck off”.

Is really self-conscious of his big front teeth (you know, he’s a rabbit and all), so he hides them the best he can.

Despite that, Taiyo does have a soft spot for children and nature. He might not say it out loud, but he really values plant life and child lives.

Follows rules to a t, doesn’t really respect anyone who doesn’t follow them or only follows them when it’s convenient for them. Has an analytical mind and thinks most of his decisions through.

WHAT’S A GUARDIAN ANGEL?

The purpose of a guardian angel is to make sure their ward lives until their natural death, to keep them safe from dangers and fatal accidents. They can’t reveal themselves or make their actions obvious. They also can’t have a say in how their ward behaves or what path they choose. For an angel, the only concern should be their safety. However, angels have the ability to become corporeal and look like normal mobians. While it’s not allowed for angels to become close with the ward or people close to them, angels are allowed to physically intervene if the situation is dire and there’s a way to make their presence look natural.

The angels are people who died and got reincarnated. To become a guardian a person has to be very selfless and caring. When an angel is born, all of their memories of their past lives are wiped. That happens because, due to their caring nature, future angels often die young by trying to protect someone. A lot of future angels also don’t have the happiest life. If angels kept their memories, more than a half of them would have emotional and/or mental issues, which would interfere with their job of taking care of their ward.

The wings and halo are made from concentrated light energy, so they give off a glow. If you were to touch them, you’d feel air, but way thicker and warmer.

All angels have transparent bracelets on their wrists that cannot be removed. They are made of the same energy as their wings and halo, but more concentrated. To touch they feel like rubber. These bracelets can glow and be used for illumination. It’s a way for angels to recognize one another when not in their angel forms.

All angels have decent healing and light bending abilities that they can use in both forms. They can sense when their ward is in danger and teleport to them in an instant, even if they’re on another planet.
