kaine grew up in the middle of nowhere, and was raised in a poor family. he was passed between a few different relatives as he grew up, many of them being addicts. he stayed with his grandfather the longest, and frequently came home to see him stumbling around the house and rambling at night. at the age of 12, kaine began to leave the house after dark and walk through the town. he would travel further and further away, as far as he could manage within one day. he spent a lot of time sleeping outside, and his attention in school waned. he eventually started travelling outside of the state whenever he had the time.

kaine encountered many different people on these trips, some kind, others not so much. his grandfather's abuse of drugs grew increasingly worse at home. kaine's paranoia grew unbearable, and he picked up cigarettes to cope. when he was 16, he made the decision to drop out of school and sever ties with his family for good. in the present day he still travels across the country by trains and buses, living off of only a small backpack full of posessions. he has bouts of intense paranoia that further fuel his smoking habits. he makes a small amount of money as a wildlife photographer, documenting local birds and abandoned buildings.
