Personality and Fashion
KJ is a very sweet and kind person, but those might not be some of the first words that come to mind when people describe her. She can be sarcastic and snarky, and she tends to say whatever pops into her head- and it's not always the kindest thing in the world. She's very impulsive, and it's gotten her into trouble numerous times. Despite this, she truly does care for the feelings of those around her, but she's not always the best at acting like it, and apologizing isn't her strong suit. KJ is a "tough love" kind of person- she shows her affection through jokes and teasing, but not everyone appreciates that kind of relationship. Despite what she says and how she acts, she wishes she could be more... likable. She acts like the kind of person who has and wants lots of friends, but in reality, she only wants a small and tight knit group of friends- but she actually has even fewer.
He is, however, incredibly supportive of his friends and loved ones, and loyal to the end. He loves to spend time with the people he cares about, and he likes to partake in his friend's interests too. If someone tells him about a new show they're watching, he's sure to watch it himself the next day so he can discuss it with them, or at the very least understand what they're talking about when they ramble to him about it. KJ loves listening to his friends talk about their interests, and gets excited by anything that makes them happy and excited. One might not think it based on his active and sarcastic personality, but he's a very good listener, so long as he can walk around or fidget while you talk to him. He's always eager to hear about what his friends have to say and what they've been up to, and she always stands by them when things are hard, and does what she can to help and make things better. He's also very rough and tumble, and surprisingly strong and hardy. He often has lots of small cuts on his legs or arms, just from running around and generally being active. She also really likes skateboarding!
FashionKJ is almost always seen wearing a blue backwards baseball cap, and strongly prefers androgynous or masculine clothing. She's also a pretty big fan of the "flannel tied around her waist" look. She strongly dislikes wearing dresses or skirts- she'll take jeans or khakis any day.

- KJ is Chinese-American. He is bilingual, speaking English and Chinese fluently. He does not have a Chinese accent.
- KJ's last name was taken from a character in my favorite video game. It also works because it's one letter off from "gray dog".

Verin [ Best friend ]
KJ and Verin are a bit of an unlikely pair, considering the contrast between Verin's rather calm and civil nature, versus KJ's wild and rude one. The two make a good pair though, and they balance each other out. Verin finds KJ's energy refreshing and fun, and KJ finds Verin's energy relaxing and comforting. The two are essentially dating but are totally oblivious to it themselves. They are often mistaken for a couple because of the way they act around each other. While they may not say "I love you", hold hands or display other public affection, their care for each other is clear simply by the way they act around each other. When one is not around, the other will talk about them a lot. Not in a show-offy or annoying way, but they are just big parts of each others lives, and they do a lot of things together- almost like a married couple. They seem to know what the other is thinking without saying anything, and know how best to comfort each other. Most of the time, where you see one, the other is not far away.
Because of her love of doing what her friends like to do, KJ has taken up ghost hunting with Verin. Verin is a die-hard believer and takes it all VERY seriously, while KJ is more along for the ride. She believes in what he tells her, but she doesn't take it as seriously- it's more of a game or fun adventure for her, which occasionally irritates Verin, but mostly he doesn't mind. He's just glad to have someone who cares to listen to him and come with him on his outings. KJ mostly acts as his "cameraman", in case something exciting happens (which it never does). Nevertheless, she's often there anyways, just in case. And she won't readily admit it, but she really really likes Verin- he's one of her few friends, and his more relaxed and serious nature can be strangely calming for her to be around in a way that she really likes. She also likes that Verin can take her jokes and jabs in stride, but also that he isn't afraid or ashamed to tell her when she goes to far- KJ finds it admirable, and has earned him a lot of respect in her eyes.
