Although perfectly sentient and very much self aware, Lucerne is not a living being in the traditional sense. He is a complex AI, developed for an immersive, virtual reality game in which he plays the role of companion and friend to an assigned player. The first go-round ended in his player being banned; whoever transferred him to the new beta tester failed to reset his memory and personality in the process, and so Lucerne's immersion has been shattered, leading him to a core-rocking series of conclusions about the manufactured nature of the world he lives in. Initially bitter and callous about himself after this revelation, Lucerne made no secret of his awareness to his new player, Hal; nowadays the idea of being wiped is more prominently unappealing, and so he guards his secret more carefully, although Hal is very much in on it and seems to enjoy his friendship. Through Hal and other sources he's been cultivating a better understanding of how the 'real' world works, but it's been difficult and sometimes frightening, and the idea of truly making contact with this world is deeply unsettling .... | SPECIES: elf HEIGHT: 5'6" WEIGHT: ???
