Name Meaning

Cassius - A Latin name meaning "Empty" (though it is meant to mean "morally empty"), Tristitius - Coming from the Latin root word "Tristitia" and made into a name which means "Sadness", Silva (Pronounced: "sil-w-ah") - A Latin word meaning "Forest" or "Woods" (It also makes me think of "silver" because of the spelling which kind of makes me think of his colours; His name can roughly translate to "Forest of Empty Sadness"); "Ninth Sigma" - Due to the fact that this character design makes me kind of think of the protagonist from the first "Nier" game and the fact that based on the file name for the melwyrm's design in Jotaku's st.ash labelled him as "009" making me think he is the ninth melwyrm possibly, I thought it appropriate to name him something reminiscent to 9S.

POST-LALAIKA (LATO) HISTORY: [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]
LALAIKA HISTORY:
"All my friends think you would be a treat to have for dinner."
Ninth Sigma was originally from the world of Lato where he fled from the massacre of melwyrms and duodeos alike by a particular insane duodeos Guardian. He had found a Gate that led from Lato to Lalaika where he managed to escape the slaughter of his kindred. Finding that this Gate could take him back and forth from the two worlds, Ninth Sigma began to utilize the Gate to bring the corpses of the fallen melwyrms that he could find into Lalaika. His intention was a pure one to try and ressurect those who had passed to their former lives after they had been murdered. However, through his inexperience this resulted in a corruption of their souls and they were reanimated into undead wyrms with violent natures towards living creatures other than Ninth Sigma. These undead melwyrms were termed as "Plague Wyrms" by the races who were attacked and forced to live in fear of these dangerous creatures.
It did not take long before Ninth Sigma began to fall ill from his work of constant moving around without a tree to call home and gain sustinance from and so he sought out for a tree of his own, eventually settling for the central most tree in a deep forest later to be known as The Forest of Empty Sadness. Here many of the melwyrms he had "rebirthed" followed and from their rotting corpses eminated the beginning of the Ruin. A thick poisonous gas that was more dense than air started to linger about the Plague Wyrms and it began to spread rapidly. Research was conducted to find out a solution as quickly as possible because many were dying fast. It was found that the gas's density did not allow it to rise beyond a certain point leading to the evacuation of those creatures who could not adapt to the poison that was beginning to spread from the forest. The best option being to move towards the sky, and with the help of the czylphs it was made possible.
The tree that Ninth Sigma had chosen for himself was a small and humble weeping willow that he had hopes of growing larger along side it. Though this type of tree was known for growing to be quite large, due to the gases from the undead wyrms it was stunted in it's growth and he along with the tree remained as such after his hibernation period leaving him in a childish body though his wisdom and intelligence remained. The gases began to affect the other trees surrounding the forest and while some were larger and he could have chosen any of them, Ninth Sigma decided to stay with his tree. This was now his home and he wanted a new start. It was then that he began his own rebirthing process and lost most of his memories of what had happened in Lato and to the other melwyrms who now resided in this forest with him. He considered this a normal life and the other wyrms as his family, though for some reason he could not shake a feeling of guilt and pain. It was like he was forgetting something...
(DISCLAIMER: The ideas about the poison gas and corrupted melwyrm souls are not cannon to melwyrm lore and just head cannons of my own)
Notes:
❧ "Ninth Sigma" is not his real name but it is what he has become known as from those who have come in contact with him or have even so much as seen or heard of him. The true origin behind this name is unknown, but no one has ever approached him out of fear because of the other wyrms and so most are not aware of his more gentle nature compared to those of his brethren. It is probably for the best as he has been prone to violent fits of rage due to his damaged psychosis (possibly a side effect from the noxious fumes spread throughout the forest) and lost memories which have either been repressed from the trauma of his past or forgotten from his rebirth in The Forest of Empty Sadness.
❧ While Elka was doing her solo research she came across Ninth Sigma in The Forest of Empty Sadness when she had followed the poisonous gases to it's source. She studied him for a couple of months and eventually she even went as far as to speak with him. He was surprised to be approached by another living being that could speak coherently and tried to convince her to stay with him. Though it was difficult, she managed to piece together the story of how he was a part in the beginning of the Ruin but when he became violent from the memories that were withdrawn she was forced to retreat with the information she had gathered thus far. Though she does not harbor any ill will towards him, instead pitying him and his lonesome state, she feels that she cannot overlook what he has done to Lalaika and seeks to exterminant those who have been made into "Plague Wyrms" while also seeking some solution to try and help him.
❧ He has a fondness for honey and his birthday is 06 June! He talks with a lysp (most noticeable with words beginning with "S" which are pronounced with "Th" though not so much in ending with "S", thus he prefers to call himself "Ninth" and leaves off the "Sigma" part because he feels embarrassed by how he pronounces it) and he enjoys spending time with the undead melwyrms that now wreak havoc on Lalaika since they are not hostile towards him. He is especially fond of having tea parties with them though it is difficult to hold conversation which leaves him quite lonely in the end. Out of this loneliness he has even given his tree a name and a gender and regularly talks to her, and calls her Mother though he is well aware that she will never respond back to him.
❧ His hobbies include having tea parties, tending to his tree, bathing in the murky lake tucked deep within the forest, cloud watching and dozing off under his tree, gathering medicinal herbs to turn into brews and mending the wounds of his melwyrm friends when they come back to him with injuries, reading, studying and practicing his magic.
