Appearance

Mirage is, in his usual form, an anthromorphic coyote with deep blue, nearly black, fur. His eyes have black sclera and brillant red-orange pupils. He has deep black, like Vantablack, markings on his face; one across his snout, two extending from his right eye and one on his left cheek. His paws, feet and underside of his tail are black. His feet have dark magenta claws.

His attire consists of a black cowboy hat, with a ribbon on it of magenta and orange trianges, and an orange scarf around his neck, patterned with eyes and mountains.

As a creature of illusion, he can use it to appear many ways with the only indicator its him is his eyes which always remain the same. His true form is of a kaiju-size coyote that appears that its been dipped in Vantablack.

Personality

Mirage is a soft-talking and even seductive creature, who is a master of talking others into what he wants. He first and foremost thinks of what he wants and often uses any method to get it. He isn’t completely selfish however, as he has a fondness for people—perhaps too much of a fondness. He can be very moody, often having severe reactions to things. When he’s angry, he’s furious. When he’s sad, he’s devastated. When he’s happy, he’s nearly giddy.

He tends to form attachments and interests to people, going far to get them to agree to stay with him. He does eventually leave them alone if they truly want him to but never understands why they want him to. He thinks that it would be foolish to not to, as he can protect them. To those who do agree, they find him hyper-protective and too aware of how fragile they are and how dangerous the world around them is. Those he loses he grieves hard and always swears he’ll never do it again, but yet he does.

History

No one is sure where Mirage came from and if he himself does, he’s not telling. He’s been in the deserts of the American Southwest as long as there’s been deserts there. He’s a bogeyman of the desert, the reason why you don’t go out at night. He’s the voice calling your name on the breeze. He’s the coyote at the other side of the road staring at you, eyes shining. If he does snare you in, then no one can be quite sure what’ll happen. All tales say you either never return or you do...but changed. And for as long as he’s been there, he’s been luring people out for his own mysterious reasons.

Skills

Mirage is a master of illusions, able to change how others see him. This extends to all of the senses but the other thing he uses most often is having victims hear things that aren’t there. However, those that can see past the Glamour or have artifacts that can allow it, will see past the illusion and at his true form.

He can project his voice and mimic other voices.

He seems to have some extrasensory capabilities and can often find things out about people without them telling him.

Trivia

• All his powers are most powerful while he’s in the desert. Outside it, they are more weak. His illusions don’t hold up as well, as even those without the ability to see past the Glamour find him uncanny.
• Most of Mirage’s concepts were lifted from the first concept of Jericho, who was a malicious eldritch alien.
