Marisol was a normal high-school student with dreams of heading off to college and forging her own path. Being forced to raise her younger brother, as much as she loved him, put a pause on any plans she had. Her father being KIA left the Florez household with a lacking income and an unfortunate new residence in the East Banden area.

Workaholic doesn't even begin to describe her work ethic; Marisol, when she decides to do a task, will get it done on time and at the highest quality possible. Part of it is because that's just how she is. The other part is because she knows that if she messes up, it's her head on the table. Unlike the other Jackdaw leaders, Marisol did not earn her spot by working her way up or being there from the beginning. Although the method of how she got her spot isn't disclosed publically, it was a direct result of nepotism.

Vincent needed someone else to watch over the California district because of his co-leader dying and the rising tension in Washington, and Marisol answered the call. The scholarship program she got into college on ran out of funding and left the students it supported in the dust. Marisol had given up everything she had on the slight chance she could escape the city, and when it blew up in her face, she had no where else to go but back.
