03 — Background
Starting out, Ophelia really wasn't a nice kid. She thought she was better than everybody else, and acted really stuck up an snooty. One night Ophelia had an accident involving her car and a cliff, and it was a turning point in her life. Many types of fay are often referred to as ghosts, and the fact is true with cat sidhe like Ophelia. Basically she "got turned into a ghost" and woke up in her true fairy form in the wreckage. This shook Ophelia, and she started being a nicer person.
She became more laid back and friendly after this event, and much more compassionate as well. She started doing things for others instead of just herself. Overall, she became a much happier person and began to love life.
A little later on, once she's 21 or so, she decides that she wants to be a phantom thief. She can do almost whatever she wants because of her abilities as a fay, and the police really can't stop her. She sends letters before hand, exposes criminals, and draws the police's attention to the bad guys. She originally sent notices about her heists before hand to work around the fairy geas preventing fay from entering buildings uninvited, but grows to enjoy sending them to make it more challenging for herself.
Around this time, Ophelia meets a guy her age in her youth group named Thierry. They become the best of friends, but she doesn’t tell him about her moonlighting as a phantom thief.
One morning, while Thierry is in the choir loft, he sees Ophelia from far away and realizes that she’s the phantom thief who’s been galavanting around at night. After confronting Ophelia, she explains everything, and he gets her to talk to the police. To both of their surprise, the police let Ophelia continue to be a phantom thief and help them out! Ophelia is over the moon with excitement, and promises to be the best consultant the police has ever had.
