Ruby sort of fell into Gretel's lap. Gretel took some interest in Ruby due to her abilities. For as long as she could remember, Gretel never put in the effort to make friends. She's pleasantly surprised by the fact that Ruby doesn't try to fix her or force her to conform. The girls share a sort of dry humor that others don't pick up on. While it's difficult for Gretel to express, she's grateful to have Ruby as a friend.
Ruby, unlike most people, isn't put off by Gretel's demeanor. She appreciates Gretel's straightforward nature as deciphering people's social cues is difficult for Ruby. She trusts her and considers her one of her closest friends in Serenity Peaks. Gretel has no thought forms that Ruby can see. This both intrigues and comforts her, since her abilities can be quite overwhelming.
Gretel lowkey thinks Wil is pathetic but remains affable with him. His gloominess gets on her nerves now and then. His prophet visions fascinate her.
Wil is intimated by Gretel, but Ruby's presence makes her a little less scary. He honestly is willing to be friends with anyone regardless of if they like him.
Gretel honestly saw Lulu as annoying and was only her friend by nature of Lulu never leaving her alone. At this point she hates Lulu's guts cause her little scheme resulted in Gretel's detainment. She only thing preventing Gretel from knocking her teeth out is the threat of further incarceration.
Lulu was "friends" with Gretel since early middle school into high school. She always saw Gretel as weird and impossible to figure out, which is why she kept her close, partly so she had someone scary on her side and partly to toy with her. She had actually been encouraging Gretel into doing violence or devious acts for her own amusement.
Lulu paid off a boy to look up Gretel's skirt, which spurred a violent reaction and Gretel being sent to Serenity Peaks under a Juvenile Delinquency program.
